Have I had a change of heart?

Its not really news at all but something I just wanted to say.

For the last couple of years Ive been what is so lovingly described by some die-hard fans as a Nay-Sayer. I had many many experiences that turned me against the NPGMC totally (like non-delivery of Rave SE, cock ups with gig tickets etc etc) - and I dont, for one minute, beleive that my complaints were unjustified and I still stand by the fact that I beleive the club so far has been a bit of a shambles...

BUT something recently has really made me put it all in perspective and Im not sure what it is: I suddenly found people moaning about the CONTENT of the DVD very surreal...these peopel didnt have to buy the dvd if the tracklist didnt tickle their fancy.

Most of all I think it was the reply that somebody wrote on a diffrerent forum (sorry I dont remember the name if it was you)...when asked why they kept joining if they felt the club was so bad they pointed out that like many other artists (Marving Gaye, Stevie Wonder etc) , to them, Prince was one of those artists who was so important to them growing up that they meant more than just a couple of cds and a career that you could just walk away from if the albums got a bit dodgy (which they have a bit recently) - thats the way I feel and, whilst I feel that all this FAM thing is bullshit propoganda, I kinda agree that if soembody who had done alot for you (and I REALLY mean that Princes music has literally saved my life at some points ...bullying, death of friends etc) then why on earth would you walk away from that person just because you dont agree at that moment in time..you wouldnt with a friend made of flesh and blood who gave you support.

I still feel that Prince is in a very priveliged and dangerous position as far as getting people to listen and that he abuses this position slightly by having such strong views pressed forward by his site but, at the end of the day, it what he feels and he probably cant help it.

Ive mellowed...perhaps a few people who really dont have that much to complain about could too?

But those who do have serious problems dont stop making your voice heard!!!

I agree with ya.He has influenced me to the point of choosing a career in music. His music has helped me through hard times, break ups, deaths.. ( sometimes it snows in April was the one that helped me with those ) and also raised me up to a good time. If you had a relationship with a friend that lasted a long time would u turn your back or critisize him just coz they go off the rails now and then... or would U B true and support that friend?

Eye No.
Do U?

I have to agree also. The past 18 months have been quite difficult for me (not going into details) and his music has really helped me through some shitty times. Personally I love the new direction that Prince has taken with his music and I enjoy being part of the club but I also understand that others aren't as happy. We are individuals and everyone is entitled to give their opinion. I just wish people would think about how they are expressing themselves and treating other people. Its only in recent years that I've learned to think before I put my mouth in gear. My mother woul constantly tell me "its not what you said, its the way you said it!!!". I just think its possible to get your point across without being disrespectful and antagonistic. This is just my two cents.
