DVD is perfect music club offering I've had a few days to digest the Aladdin DVD, and I really feel like it's a great offering to music club members. While I personally am starting to feel like the One Nite Alone tour stuff is getting pretty long in the tooth, the fact is that we got a live Prince DVD for $14.99 + shipping -- a reasonable price that was actually shipped when it went on sale.
I would argue that the One Nite Alone tour has been Prince's longest-running public project in quite some time. We've been living it and re-living it since early 2002 -- that's a committment to a project that has held Prince's attention for much longer than seemingly more important projects (like Emancipation, which was supposedly going to be a multi-year project with singles, videos, etc. remember?). And inbetween it all, we've got some great music as well, including the XPectation set and N.E.W.S. Live shows and instrumental albums all through the club -- all very good in my book. I spent some time this weekend and converted the audio from the Aladdin DVD to aiff files for burning to CD and MP3s as well for enjoying at work on my computer -- the entire show, including the bonus clip and even the silly NPGMC ad all fit on one 80 minute disc and is a really great listen. I'm thrilled that there are songs included in the Aladdin set that were missing from the ONA box set, especially Pass the Peas (although the DVD version is too short), Love Rollercoaster, Strollin', U Want Me, Pop Life, The Work, and Push and Pull. With the DVD set and the ONA box set, we've been given a great listen to his live work and aftershow jams that we've never had official access to before, and that's a real thrill to me. Overall, I applaud the DVD (and this year's NPGMC), although I will say that complaints about the amateur nature of some of the footage are well-founded. But it's certainly better than any live DVD we've had access to in the past! Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. we shall soon see Unless you were living under a rock, you know that members got plenty that the general public didnt get each year of the club's existence. This year isnt over yet. DO you think Prince isnt going to tour again? Who gets those front row preferred seats? Who gets those FREE aftershows? Ah, I think I will keep my membership current.

It cracks me up how LaMont is always telling other people not to "hate," when that seems to be all he ever does himself. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

What I do not understand is that Prince is normally such a perfectionist when it comes to his concerts, his band and his albums. Releasing anything but a completely professional DVD offers does not seem to fit the profile.

Much like you accuse other people of doing for stating an opinion, rather than a fact. Pot. Kettle. Black. .

Well, you can be ridiculous if you want to but I can beat you at your game because I am smarter than you. There was no price tag or sign saying that they were reserved or for sale. As I was smarter than everyone else there, I helped my damn self once the theater employees in the lobby allowed me to take what I wanted. I'll take 'Rave2000'.
Aside form the jerky editing, I never understood the overall negative reaction to this show. I think it's fantastic.

You checked out of the "Smart" hotel long ago. You should have helped yourself to the cinema projector as well, that didn't have a reserved or for sale sign on it either, did it? Come to think for it, neither did the cars outside. You should have been smarter than everyone else there too, you could have had yourself a nice new car to replace your retard electric cart. Its easy to spot a thief and a hypocrite, particularly when you freely admit it. .

Its easy to spot a thief and a hypocrite, particularly when you freely admit it. Well now you are just going for some kind of humor to avoid looking stupid. The irony is that you are making yourself look stupid in the process. As I said, the theater employees told me that they were unwanted. I helped myself. If they were not free, they would have been behind the counter with the $5 dollar bags of popcorn and candy; not laying on the floor outside the theater door. You just cant make more than that out of it - unless you want to cry about the $200 that I have made on them already Hate on! [This message was edited Fri Aug 22 22:27:18 PDT 2003 by LaMont]

Oh great...after claiming that you didn't really have any intentions to sell them, you brag about making more than $200 so far. Classic LaMont. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

can you two get a room and get lost? We don't give a rat's ass about the love you have for each other. And you sound like tossers arguing about crappy posters anyway.

Yanking your chain while youre on my dick (thus the laughing face on the sentence) - and you arent even smart enough to realize it. And even if I did, is your life so petty and small that a stranger making a few bucks on free posters is changing it so much?
