DVD=great music, terrible footage

I was amazed at the poor quality of the DVD. How could he release this as is? He had a year to fix it or use other film footage. Best Buy will be receiving many returns from buyers not aware that all the copies are terrible. Throughout half the DVD the audio doesn’t even match the video. It really takes away from the performance. Maybe this is due to careless overdubbing, which I never understood why Prince feels he needs to overdub. He sounds just as good live, if not better and more real.

The music was great, and he seemed to be enjoying himself. It’s a shame he missed an opportunity to show the world that he’s still got it. I really wish he would spend some money on projects such as this, he’ll end up selling more copies in the long run. Instead we get a DVD with less than bootleg VHS quality. I have better copies made by bootleggers, and the audio even matches the picture, which I don't think is too much to ask.

watch the DVD as was intended... on a TV. the transfer to the big screen was FUTILE. the limited picture quality, as WAS intended for this type of release, came off horrible when magnified. someone obviously overlooked this when the finished product was put together and/or made the decission to hold a screening...

my advise to all is to enjoy it the way it was originally intended... ON THE small SCREEN...

OK I'll give it a shot, but the I'm guessing the audio still will not match the video on many of the close-up singing shots. The sound was pretty good, and this will make for a great CDR.

The audio doesn't match the video? That's the first time I hear this. I hope it's not too bad.

If the audio does not match the video -- it may not be a problem with the disc -- the problem may lie with your DVD hardware. I had the same problem with other DVD'S

I said the same thing about the DC screening and some punks wanted to tell me that it was the DVD. This was not meant to be shown on a professional movie theater screen so there is some of the problem with quality.

I think he's suggesting that the problems might be in the overdubs.

Thank YOU!!!

I was wondering if I was going nuts or something. I put the DVD in and was shocked as well. I too have a larger television and was wondering if it would look better on a small 27" instead.

I was going to take it back to Best Buy and try to exchange it but after reading this I will keep it.

Thank goodness it only cost $14.99.

Isn't technology ssupposed to be improving? Sure I'm sure it looks great on a 19" TV, but so do all the bootleg copies I have. Let's face it the quality sucks and I will not be surprisd to see this priced for $9.99 in a matter of weeks.

How can Hip-O, Universal and NPG agree to release this crappy footage with bad overdubs? It has to be unprecedented for a major label release.

YEAH!! I was at the CHICAGO SCREENING and I noticed sections where the audio didn't match the video. I just assumed it was an error of showing DVD on a theter screen etc. Wasn't aware the DVD at home showed the same problems!!

dvd's cna be shown fine on a movie screen if they're at properly formated, which this dvd isn't...

someone made a really simple technical error when they rendered out the file that is burned to dvd.

the result is you see every other line of the image, thus, half resolution.

He's right about the TV comment. I watched it through my PS2 with regular sound on an ordinary TV and it was much better.

Still odd though that the quality could be so crappy.
