MARKETING THE NEW DVD and other NPG products

Have you ever noticed that when Prince wants to sell something beyond members of the NPGMC, things like the latest DVD and the One Nite Alone Live! 3 CD set, his press releases, approved by him, are always sure to make big references to classic 80s hits and or 'all the old favourites' in the hope that the non-regular (so to speak) punter might be interested and hand over sum money to his religious cause. Still not too devout to practice a little selling out huh? On the one hand its all -if you come to get you're purple rain on you in the wrong house, and were interested inwhat you can leaarn, new directions in music and all that. But in come the dollars and wheres the art, taken a back seat all of a sudden! Go figure!

NPGMC Member & Prince Fans should have the availability 2 purchase Prince Music & so 4th but at the same time NPGMC Members should have 1st dibs.

now that The NPGMC is only a $25 Membership i can't see y some1 would NOT b a Member unless they didn't have a Computer or they didn't have a job but when i didn't OWN a PC i was still a Member of The NPGMC. i just used a PUBLIC Computer...

I am not a member because the site is weak and Prince only wants followers on his site anyway. Those with their own mind need not apply.

...i think i see what you're tryin to say here, comon. all ol' boy is doin is the old carrot-on-a-stick routine...again. it's so odd, seems like every time p and the npgmc fucks up they immediately put out some product or whatever in order to have folks simmer down.

cold-blooded, man...neutral

One Nite Alone...Live! Box Set

Price $50.00

The new LIVE box set from Prince and The NPG features all the BIG HITS recorded live on the One Nite Alone 2002 Tour. This is the first live CD set ever released by this legendary performer. The 3 CD set includes the "It Ain't Over" CD featuring hot, late nite aftershow jams and a 56-page full color box booklet featuring new photos and fan reviews of this one-of-a-kind concert xperience.

The above is from the NPGMC website- note the refrence to 'all the BIG HITS' in capitals. I thought the Rainbow children was more important to Prince now than hits? And also see below, again the NPGMC website 'Prince classics':

Prince Live at the Aladdin Las Vegas DVD

Price $14.99

This DVD features a 2002 Concert Of Prince classics, covers, and recent songs plus special guests NIKKA COSTA, MACEO PARKER and SHEILA E.

Recorded December 15, 2002, during the Las Vegas stop on his most recent tour, the approximately 80-minute Prince Live At The Aladdin Las Vegas brings the Prince experience home. Region 0, NTSC.

I had a similar conversation with a close friend of mine. Is Prince truly gonna go the indie route or is he still interested in selling to the masses? Is he making the music for himself or not?

i hope P stays INDIE... the Recording Labels don't know what 2 do with P anymore & if they did then Rave should've done better than it d but people always talk about how MEDIOCRE it was & what not.

people don't APPREIATE REAL music & if they did then they wouldn't say all the shit they say not.

in order 2 get people's ATTENTION he has 2 make REFERRENCE 2 the BIG HITs. doesn't he???

some people want 2 hear New Music & i want both the new & the Older. get that WARM feeling & think back what u were doin' when it came out.

y do people buy Music anyway? 2 soothe a Mood, am i right?

Market the BIG HITS P.. do yo thang!!!
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I dig what you're saying, Purple, but on both ocassions at the Chicago shows, we were pretty much asked to leave the past behind. Is it about the money or is it about being truly free? When you are truly free, it doesn't matter if you sell 10 copies or ten million copies. I guess I don't understand the need to market to the masses when the general public is so flaky. There are those of us that have been around through it all. Or maybe Pbwants to be popular again?

What perks? Ummm...I may or may have gotten N.E.W.S before it was available in stores and the same thing is true with the new DVD. It seems pretty damn unlikely that there will be a tour and the movie on the bigscreen thing is not coming to Minneapols.

What perks? I just really know what these perks are big grin ?
