Why would I order the DVD in the club ?

It cost 15 dollars, for europe it's extra 10 dollars for shipping , and for europa you have to wait several weeks, just like NEWS, NEWS was also promised to have sent immediately .

NEWS costed only 10 dollars, but with 10 dollars shipping .
NEWS is coming in stores, for prices cheaper than 20 euro , 20 dollars .


So , what's the benefit of buying the DVD in the club ???

I buy DVDs in Belgium for 20 euro .

15 + 10 = 25 dollars = 25 euro .

I won't buy the DVD, as a NPGMC member I expect to have something exclusive , not like NEWS or this DVD , that's coming into stores .

I'm more concerned about the compatibility of the DVD. It's okay for the DVD to be Region 0, but will there be PAL and NTSC versions?

If not, then I'll just wait until the retail release.

Haystack, according to the mods, they are only selling the Region 0 version, and the other ones will be available in stores in the corresponding geographic regions.

Purpleke, it's funny that you posted this, b/c I just got done posting a similar question in the U Tell Us forum over at the club.

If it's coming out in retail in a few weeks anyway, why order from the club? It's funny how everyone gets all upset when some of us order something and it takes FOREVER to get to us. "Relax!" they say. "It's no that crucial! You'll get it soon enough!"

So using that same logic, why not wait a week or 2 and get it from BestBuy? Anyone?

Well, if you just can't take the chance of waiting to get it after it's in stores, then just wait a week or so until it's in stores. Personally, I'll survive if a non-member gets to watch the DVD before I do, so I'll just order it from the club. My own mailing history with NPGMC has been good. I've gotten everything fairly promptly. If you haven't had the same experience then you should definitely weigh your options.

Obviously, I also am totally fine with a nonmember aka John Q Sixpack watching the DVD before me. I wouldn't be considering waiting to buy the DVD at a store if I couldn't handle the fact that people would watch it before me.

This whole "who gets to hear/see it first" is getting lame. It's not that big an issue with me. Is it that big of a deal to anyone to get something maybe 3 weeks before retail, or maybe a week or a couple of days before retail? Is this really the main perk of being in the club this year?

And about the set-list. No shiz, it's pretty dissapointing. I would've loved to have the solo piano portion of the show on video. How could they leave that out? Ending the show with Last December does make up some points though. They didn't play it when I saw them.

To make it seem your $25 membership fee got you more than the ability to chat with other Prince fanatics? Both the DVD and CD will be in the bargain bin at Best Buy soon enough.

I've had great luck with everything I've ordered online from Prince, including Crystal Ball, which came with a T-shirt and was followed by a free cassette of The War. That was a long time ago, but still . . .

Who knows what Prince might throw in with the DVD when you order through the Club?
