I'm almost free of it !

My obsession with Prince is like a drug. Just when I think I'm free of it, i get another high and can't stop going back for more.

But lately I think I might be clear of it at last.

I saw N.E.W.S. in HMV. It was only £12. But I didn't buy it. I didn't buy it because I don't like it. This is something of a revolution. I ALWAYS buy Prince material, regardless. Did I buy all picture disk 12" singles to listen to them ? I don't think so.

I feel free !

I haven't played Rainbow Children for almost four months (and sat there saying "This would be great without the voice/preaching/suspect lyrical content")

I didn't even burn the Expectation lift music onto a CD.

Oh Lord, can it be, can I be free.

Oh no. There's someone at the door. It's my dealer. He's got the Aladdin DVD. There's a sliver of hope though ! I've seen the track list.

Maybe, just maybe, it'll be as shit as it sounds. Oh please.

Let me be free.

I am Free since 98...smile
I still buy the prince Cd s...but i dont need 2 buy them when they get released anymore. The last cd i got was The rainbow children...i think i listent 2 it 8 times since i got it. And i dont feel the urge 2 listent 2 it. The music is ok...but the lyrics...just dont like it.
I have NEWS on my pc. did not burn it either. Music is good yes. But there is something missing. Lets be honest, there are better instrumental cd s out there.
Dont get me wrong, i love jazz...but again, there are better jazz cd s out there.
I love prince when he sings, when he sings about stuff i can relay 2. I love 2 see prince live, i am looking forward 2 the live dvd. But the studio cd s dont do it for me anymore. I am not bitching bout prince. He does what he feels, and thats good 4 him. But his new music does not excite me anymore.
So now i feel free !!! and it feel good. lol..
free ur mind

I am a member of the $25 promotional site. I downloaded the NEWS. There was an initial flicker of worry that I might get excited, but luckily Prince decided to jam away for 15,000 hours like a session-musician Miles Davis tribute band.

Thankyou Prince. Bleeding my way out slowly.

I'm feeling all of this, except for that one eye-rolly post.

NPGMC is coming off more and more like a PR site that we were asked to "donate" $25 to in order to be His Royal Publicity Assistants. If our comments don't gush like what's in the ONA Live box set booklet, our comments aren't welcome.

Meanwhile, content is scant, music is scarce, and the people at Paisley continue to alienate fans.

When I think of P's fan community, I think of the scene at the end of Titanic where the ship is sinking and people are trying to hang on, but all you see is more bodies dropping into the dark blue beyond.

(So I'm a drama queen. Sue me.)

If you want to know:
I posted that emoticon because I don't understand some people's desire to make whole threads about their "awakening" from "Prince addiction".
Don't get me wrong, of course he can have his opinio.

Well, considering that enough people have posted on a similar topic that it got your attention, don't you think that maybe this is something that a lot of us have dealt with or are dealing with? Be glad you're not there...it's somewhat of a disenchanting experience.

I can totally relate to this post, and I'm also a drama queen. I mean, BUH, show me one hardcore Prince fan who isn't and I'll call you a four-letter-word that means you ain't tellin' the truth. wink

Hey, I just said I wasn't feeling your rolly-eyed emoticon, not that I was calling for your head on a platter. Sheesh. So sensitive.

Anyway, if comments like this really bother you, you oughtta go check out the NPGMC boards - they delete threads like this over there, so you'll be in good hands. smile

N.E.W.S. is the first Prince I failed to purchase on the day of its release, dating all the way back to Purple Rain.

I thought 'xpectation' was pretty awful.

The sense of urgency is gone - at least for now.

My friends couldn't believe me when they found out I didn't order NEWS from the NPGMC...I just wasn't excited enough to do it...I did buy it on it's release date but only cos some little birdy made me go buy a Grandaddy cd that day...

as for the DVD...hmmm, I liked what I saw at the parties last month, but I'm in no hurry to get it. I know I will, but at least I haven't been obsessing for the release day to hit as I have for releases in the past...
