Why must we endure Nikka Costa on the new DVD?

Lenny Kravitz on the RAVE DVD was alright because people want to see those two collaborate on anything - but a flash in the pan, Janis Joplin rip off like Nikka Costa? As far as I am concerned, that is more time that could be devoted to just Prince that is wasted on her.

I like Nikka...or at least that "Like A Feather" song...of course, I liked it more when I thought it was Sandra Bernhard lol

I think she's alright. Her screaming in the clip during Prince's solo is barf though.

That's scary. Nikka's album was better than anything Prince has done in years (before TRC).

The taste of the culties, errr, Org-ers never ceases to frighten me...

The same reason that we had to endure the obligatory Sheena Easton duet for umpteen years -- 'cause it is Prince's creation! I happen to enjoy the odd duet per release, they become soothing in some way.

I wish the Cyberclips at NPGMC were the tracks that were left off the DVD, that way us members would actually get something exclusive!

Shes just another "jump on my wagon and you'll shift some more cds" friend of Prince.

She can have her picture right on the wall with Carmen Electra, Tevin Campbell, TC Ellis, Jill Jones, Ingrid Chavez (who I actually quite like still) and Martika.

LaMont, this conclusion is not correct. no no no!
There is no "time wasted" on/with Nikka. The problem is that Prince might release an incomplete show on a (probably) 80'-DVD, when in fact more than 2 hours could fit on a single disc.

Thus, "Nikka" is not taking any time away from "Prince".
Better blame Prince for not filling up the DVD. chainsaw

Also, if Nikka is a Janis Joplin rip-off, then Prince is surely a James Brown rip-off. Such simplistic comparisons don't make sense.

Cheers-

I know, she sounds like a younger version of Patti Labelle with her high pitched vocal gymnastics. wink

Nikka's got alot more going for her than those other artists. First, she's actually talented. Also, other than perhaps being an influence, Prince had nothing to do with her record, which was one of the best albums that came out that year, imho.

"Like a Feather" and "Some Kinda Beautiful" are 2 of the best "prince" songs I've heard in years.

At least she's not some no talent Bim like Carmen, Kim Basinger, Sheena Easton or Mayte.

Co-sign. Sheena Easton was better off before her brush with Prince.

True. Actually, Nikka had the unfortunate luck to have her major release come out around the same time as Ms. Keys. I remember thinking that one of them would blow up.

You're fucking kidding me, right? I also belong to the NPGMC, and have since it started, all 3 years. That doesn't make my opinion on things any more valid to anyone except you, but there you have it.

Were you this upset when India Arie's video was posted in the club? At least with Nikka there's actual Prince involvement.

what's wrong LaMont? do you have a hard time with prince being shown up on his own product?

at least she stays true to her art and writes songs that people can relate to.

give her time though, maybe even she can start writing songs that constantly whine about the industry, and jehovah...

Oh,

I stand corrected. Who could forget the unparalelled excellence of "Morning Train"?

Sorry if you think she's a genious, but I think you get my point anyhow.

Nah, herb4. I don't think she is a genius. Yeah, I got your point. I was just dickin' with ya. She is the best out that group though.
