The point is, this re-release of PR will NEVER happen, no matter the circumstances...so it's just another bullshit statement from the club.

Prince has always been at the forefront of making changes in the music industry. Once he achieves his goal, everyone else will be following suit. My hat is off to you, Prince, and you have my full support and the full support of ME~N~U apolis FREE 2045.

Prince, ENUFF is ENUFF with your fans and supporters as well. Quit dicking us around with antics like this. It is your responsibility in the first place to write a clear and concise letter to your fans explaining the purpose of this request.

Don't just tell someone to pack up their CDs and mail them off to some strange location at their expense with no explanation, then go in a tizzy when they don't gladly do it.

Don't turn around and wave a carrot in their face, such as a remastered version of Purple Rain, as recourse for them refusing your request either. This is total Bullshit. First of all, Prince's overt dogma and rewriting of his previous explicit lyrics would only spell trouble for a re-release of Purple Rain.

It's a fucking headache these days trying to show some support for a musician I previously grew up enjoying.

Before some fam tries to pass the whole blame off on the fans, Prince has pulled plenty of stunts to merit listeners being pissed off. If you're blind to that, its not our problem.

In the end, this is a problem between Prince and WB. Stop dragging fans into this mess. If Prince needs proof of the existence of these CDs, then go into your record store and grab a few off the shelf, or seek out some inventory databases from various retailers. These CDs were all packaged with UPC codes, hence their is a long paper trail of their existence.

Without a clear explanation of why us mailing our CDs to you is the only way to win your case, it seems downright retarded to people like myself. And don't play startled when supporters refuse your crazy requests.

I know there are people who will do just about anything Prince requests, pay any price. But a majority of us are not mindless gullible people like that, so quit treating us like we are.

This is so funny! There are a few of you still trying to defend the pathetic email and board post!

If they wanted one copy of these "Unofficial" releases, they would simply ask you to email, and ask if you were willing to give it up.

But a blanket mail to members is asking for as many as possible, including any WB release!?!

To the few brainwashed fams left, you truely astound me. Please, for the amusement of the group, please answer these?

If Prince is "tempting" us with a 2004 DVD trimmings, then why give us editted DVDs in 2003?

If prince wants to collect this "evidence", don't you think its truly fucked up to not even offer payment, shipping or return of YOUR goods?

There is an item cost and shipping charge from NPGMC, fair there isn't one the other way round?

Dyou really think Prince is changing the industry by asking the fans who made him a millionaire (by buying his records), to return them, at the the fans cost, so he can fight with WB again to gain more millions?

Yeah, a revolution!?!?!

Ani was distributing on her own long before Prince, and Pearl Jam jas done a fantastic job after the fact.

Prince was one of the earlier artists to challenge major label practices, but he certainly wasnt the first, and he certainly hasn't perfected the process of distributing on his own either. There are many other big-name musicians doing it 10x better these days.

When you see people like Pearl Jam releasing hundreds of CD's of each of their concerts shortly after the shows, and you see people like Prince scrambling to get a CD produced and mailed out to fans in a timely fashion, you have to ask why.

Because he's a fuck-up.

He don't need a manager! He don't need a record company! He don't need NO middle man!

That's why all his business ventures suck dirty assholes, because it's not done properly.

Like someone said in another post, it's ALWAYS been this way.

What pisses me off though is the fams saying "Look this is what happens when you critize, the site goes down, can't we just enjoy the music?"

We all enjoy the music, or we wouldn't be hear, and we want new music when it's released, but his shady ventures and terrible customer service has lost him mucho respect from fans.

That PR 2004 DVD is NOTHING but hot air and a threatened "punishment" for not keeping our mouths shut - I can see it now, the fams saying "We could have had a Purple Rain DVD with out-takes in 2004 if we had just not reacted like that" - It's all crud, that PR 2004 DVD doesn't rely on this matter - it's between Prince & WB.

He's always been full of hot air, he's always been a shite business man - it's those suck-hole brown-nose fams that piss me off.

Prince is good at making music.. but I wouldn't call him smart.. the boy is a f*cking moron. Goes to show you what he think of his fams that he brainwashes... first he asks for something, then doesn't care to tell them why he wants it.

Then when he's about to be bitch-slapped by even the moderates... he releases this "floater".

I wanted to respond to this on NPGMC site, but they kindly locked out the entire U Tell Me forum.

Prince - if you truly wanted to file suit against WB, and decent lawyer would have told you to file the lawsuit, then subpena the distribution and retail companies to come up with the titles, where they came from and how many were ordered. Getting the discs from consumers doesn't prove anything.

BS response to getting head(s) handed to them by the fanbase.

i can't believe people are mocking prince over this.

from my perspective this is a legit request and should be respected by us.

if he can receive these 'unoffical' releases from US the consumers his case against WB will be stronger. if WB did, indeed release unapproved material through a foreign affilaite, then they are guily of violating their agreement with prince and this would substantiate prince's argument that they've been ripping him off.

mind you, i wasn't a huge supporter of his 'slave' campaign, however if WB did in fact do this with his work they should pay big time.

this is a reasonable request from NPGMC. it shouldn't be hard for someone somewhere to come up with a copy of this stuff? i'd send them in if i had any

this is true, however, (mind you i'm not familiar with the details of what seems to be happening so this is hypothetical) IF people like you and i have obtained access to this copyrighted material through an unauthorized distribution channel, THEN prince's case is much stronger as he can prove that WB violated their agreement with regard to distribution.

as i understand this issue, it wouldn't be enough for prince to prove that the items simply 'exist', he would also have to prove that his fan base was able to obtain the material through the unauthorized channel of distribution. he will best prove this if WE send the material to him, as per his request.

Without going into whether the NPGMC request to mail in the materials they listed is a good/bad/silly/pointless/helpful or whatever else idea...I'm wondering...

...if the Club wants these particular items mailed in to them by Club members so as to prove a point that fans were able to purchase or obtain them illegally, how exactly is that more helpful or beneficial to Prince in proving his case than if his legal team or employees just went out and bought these items *themselves* off Ebay or elsewhere?

If Joe Blow from Anywhere, USA mails in his items to the NPGMC, does Joe Blow have to sign a bunch of legal documents verifying that HE, Joe Blow, actually provided said materials to the Club and describing how HE himself got them? Will he be called in as a witness during court proceedings to testify in court when and where and how he obtained these albums or CDs? To me it would seem that soing so would be logical and almost necessary in establishing their (Prince's) case against WB's illegal actions of making these items available for sale.

Otherwise, couldn't WB or whoever just counter with "Well, how do we know that you got these items from a fan who claims to have bought them in 19__ at ___ from ___?" Wouldn't the fan who sent them in to the club be called into court to give a sworn testimony of where he/she got the items?

If all that is needed for court is the actual physical proof that these items were manufactured and sold, then really what difference does it make from where, or how, Prince/NPGMC obtains them, as long as they have them? And if the crux of the NPGMC argument/defense is that fans were able to purchase the stuff, then it seems to me they'd have to provide some actual fans to give testimony of when, where, and how they were able to obtain their 'unofficial' material.

I guess I'm just wondering how having a club member mail in their stuff helps the NPGMC case more in the long run. Just having the physical evidence to show to a judge or in a court of law is helpful I guess... but without going through a bunch of legalities proving from whom the NPGMC *themselves* obtained the material, and then going back to the individual who mailed it to them and how THAT person got the material, I don't see how it's any more helpful than if Prince and his legal team went out and obtained those items themselves.

I'm certainly not very savvy about the law or the legal system, so I apologize if my questions are silly.

I don't actually believe that Warner Brothers did anything illegal. I believe it is Prince once again not wanting to live up to the terms of HIS contract that HE signed.

I can't wait for this *cough* court case. Trust me it will never happen.
