I think nobody is going to buy it would be a far more accurate prediction of its sales.

More ungrateful crying and complaining. If it was 3 hours, Prince would be getting blasted for being narcissistic and over indulgent - just like he is criticized when he releases a multiple disc album. Remember that cry babies when SOTT, Emancipation, and Crystal Ball were released. People were saying stupid shit like "this would be a great album if he kept it down to one disc with all the better cuts on it". Hell, that was the rap on Emanciaption and the fact that it was a miraculous accomplishment was lost.

Take the DVD and by happy. No one else - and I mean no one - is prolific enough to relelase as much shit as Prince does. He gives us plenty.

Come 2 think about it...I think Prince chose these songs because he wants to expose the masses to his newer stuff. I can imagine that the dvd will be filled with NPGMC overtones. If he gets 10,000 more members from a million selling dvd (his dvds and videos still sell well), that won't be bad money at all (10,000x$25 = $250,000). Not a bad way to make some extra income.

it's one thing if he was giving us something, then yes, take it be grateful. but as long as he is attempting to sell it, the consumer is not the one who should be grateful. news flash, Ass Face, Prince doesn't give anyone anything. you have this entire producer/consumer thing backwards.

don't get me wrong, now, i think it looked good. i saw it at the park also and was not bothered by its appearance. i just think that for someone who finally felt comfortable enough to release a 3 disc LIVE set, cutting down that very same tour to 80 minutes on dvd seems like a waste. maybe it will be a double disc, who knows? but 14 tracks does not do this tour justice. its not greed, lamont, its dissatisfaction. and as the buying public we really shouldn't be "glad" or feel "lucky" to be able to buy something. prince really should be (and probably is) grateful that there is still a buying public for his material. what's wrong with voicing an opinion about a product?

and for the record, the public didn't think sott was too long...most people did (and still do) hail it as his best work to date.

Gives us plenty? Oh yes, what a generous soul he is. Pay $25 just so we can spend even more money? On the contrary, if it was three hours, he might actually be able to get away with calling it a concert video.

You really listen to critics' opinions on Emancipation? Why waste your time? Then again, they are hardly wrong. Prince could have cut off drivel like New World, We Gets Up, and The Human Body, and have been going in the direction to a double album that rivaled Sign o' the Times. He could have cut It, and made a single CD from Sign o' the Times that blew Purple Rain out of the water.

I think before we complain too much we should wait for some words from the Club. I'm not saying that the info we have by now is inaccurate but MAYBE (not that it's very likely, IMO) there will be a member version later.

I like y'all's hopeful attitude, but if I start thinking maybe there'll be a member version, then I'll get disappointed when inevitably there's no such thing.

If I have learned anything from you, blue, it is to be hopeful. Your enthusiasm for Prince's music has re-lit mine. I just hate to see a bunch of folks get upset over this. For all we know, it'll get sent as part of our memberships. You never know. I never once thought for a second that I would be sitting in on a soundcheck last year or that P would take a bunch of folks to a movie in their pajamas. For all the bitching that I do, there are a few things that I am over-optimistic about.

I don't know, man...disbelief Usually, I would take up for Prince, but if this tracklisting is accurate, I'm afraid I can't stand behind this one...

oh no you din't! SOTT is, really, a perfect Lp. i've never, not once, skipped a track listening to that one. it is a grat song. that album is the epitome of classic. now, yeah, emancipation can be fixed, but come on...SOTT?

You forgot some overproduction here and there?
You forgot the marketforces?

Oh well. B00tl3g DVD's are faster nowadays...

HMMMMmmmmz.
Maybe we should as for a `ONA DVD - The Director's Cut`?

Yes, I was looking forward to this DVD, but now I think I'll boycott it. When Prince gives something that his fans want, maybe they will support it and buy it. Although I'm sure N.E.W.S. sold well and this DVD will too because some people buy anything with his name on it. There's nothing wrong with blind loyalty, but I'll wait until gives us something more authentic.. Maybe he will finally release Crystal Ball 2 with more previously released songs and remixes?

It's just crazy that he edits and censors everything so much. Just film the damn concert start to finish and release it! There's space on the DVD for god's sake. Well, I guess I'll rent this DVD from Netflix...worth watching, but not owning.

I would love to see a 3 hour show by Prince on DVD, but did you consider that Prince has to hire an outside company to manufacture and distribute the dvd? Remember Prince music is not selling like it use to back in the 80's or early 90's.

I am sure if it was Prince alone making the call, he would include the whole show and the after show as a bonus but I am sure whoever is making and distributing the dvd told prince to cut it down so they can keep it at a competive price and make money on the dvd. Also, you dont see any other music acts releasing 3-hour plus live performances, do you?

That doesn't make any sense. You can easily fit 3 hours on one DVD, and it wouldn't cost the manufacturer or distributor a penny more than it would to put 80 minutes on that same DVD.

Actually, it's one of the more moronic opinions expressed. I guess if Prince walked on camera, played the opening chords to each song, smirked, and walked off, we should be grateful for his presence.

The entire damn show should be on the disc. Period.
