Wolfgang the Great figured it out on the NPGMC...there are about 21,000 this year. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I figured this out a few days ago. When I checked there were 21,878. Apparently the number has since gone up with the announcement of N*E*W*S*, but the 22,000 mark has not been eclipsed. |

The real question should be how many were there in year 1,2 and 3...I think it might have dropped over the years with people not getting cds etc - probably not by much though.

This is not actually correct ... the npgmc database currently holds a little more then 22.000 usernames, but these also include inactive accounts; usernames from last year that are not in use this year. So, it would be correct to say that in 2002 NPGMC at no time had more than 22.000 members, and that this year, the amount of paying members is a percentage of 22.000. 2002 must have been a peak year for memberships, with people joining specifically to get access to shows and aftershows ... so a reasonable estimate of the amount of current paying members would be around one third of the 22.000 number.
