Hello from the NPG Music Club Official Store,

We would like to apologize for the delay in shipping out your N.E.W.S.
CD. Due to overwhelming demand and some unexpected delays, we were not
able to ship June 25th as originally planned. We have the first batch of
CDs going out Friday, June 27th. We will have an even larger batch
shipping early next week. Once we charge your card, you will be getting
your order shipped within 24 hours. If you do not get your CD in this
batch of shipments, you will be getting your CD shipped around mid-July,
when the next batch of CDs are completed and sent from the manufacturer.
Rest assured, you will still be getting your CD before it is available
in stores or to the rest of the public. If you have not gotten an email
letting you know your card was charged by next Wednesday, this means you
were not sent your order in this first wave and will be getting it in
the next wave.

Please bear with us as we deal with these back orders. We are doing
everything possible to get you your CD as quickly as possible.

I have a life and I'm not gonna stress out over bs. Thats what I think, I ordered the fucking cd when I ordered it and I'm not gonna get all pissy over some cd not being shipped pronto. I could give a damn.

One positive thing:

at least they're communicating!

communicating? They said the CD would be out by a certain date? Why every time Prince releases something it does not come out on time. I could see if it was one release but it has been most in the last several years. I am willing to bet that if this CD is expected in stores by July 23rd than the store will have it first. This is just another of a long line of retail screw-ups affiliated with Prince.

I think that, since so many members bought several copies, this really won't sell in stores. But Prince already got the money, I guess he doesn't mind. In fact, I think he really isn't releasing this to retail for the money but because he wants people to hear it.

What does it matter whether the rest of the public receives the music at the same time as I do? What advantage does this give me?

Yes, I just thought many also ordered CDs for those not in the Club who would have bought the CD through retail.

I woulda bought it through retail...I don't care about any of this fancy bullshit...just make the music available and I'll buy the motherfucking thing. It's good music.

If the cd was not going to stores people would be moaning 'why can't he just release this stuff to the stores, it would be so much easier.'

If NPG did not send out an email explaining what was up then it would be why can't they communicate.

If it was released as a download, people would be complaining about the quality of the mp3.

Its Prince you know the track record so after all these years you have not figured out what this all is about?? Good points, people will always find something to complain about
BUT
there's nothing wrong with people complaining when they have been let down. Shipping was supposed to be 25th, now it's 27th - if you were lucky enough to order early. I appreciate being kept informed of the delays, but many other companies manage to fulfill their orders on the dates they state. Yes, it's not the end of the world, but I bet you'd be pissed if you bought something from me and I just emailed you to say "it's on it's way, maybe tomorrow, maybe 3 weeks". Just because this is related to Prince it doesn't mean that correct business practice and the common courtesy of keeping your word should not apply.

I agree, still if you came thru with some excellent goods in the end would the drug user be back for more? This dude Prince has been running the empire like this for years and years, someone posted on here longago its like we are the bitch who keeps getting bitch slapped time and time again, yet we still keep coming back for more. There really isn't too much to get upset about. Afterall, most of us should already have the download of NEWS. That should hold us until we get delivery.

well my initial point was not what everyone said after me. I just said that I was told it would be out on the 25th. That is why I ordered it early. No other reason! They charged my card on the day News went on sale. Period. You all can say what you want but to change it at any point without any logical reason is wrong. There weren't enough printed? What kind of BS excuse is that? This has happened to many times in the recent past & it must stop. Especially, if he wants any of his fans left. There are many hardcores & I used to be one, but I am po'd that this is still going on. He almost acts like his releases are still viable to the mass media & that is the furthest from the truth.

I don't think that the cd being released to stores will be a problem, it WILL sell. Just not as much as in P's WB-days.

Let's just be happy that he isn't releasing commercial cds like NPS and Rave anymore. Since the release of TRC, his making good music again imho, and if it's received well by critics, people will want to hear it. I believe that happened to TRC, and to ONA...Live! here in Europe. Then we got the tour that boosted sales of these two albums an extra bit too.

Just a few days before the concert in Antwerp, I was in FNAC, and lots of concertgoers were looking for TRC, people were talking to one of the shopkeepers about TRC, etc.

My point is, if Prince releases good music, it will eventually be heard by more and more people. It just won't have the sales boost in the beginning of its release. But I think N.E.W.S. will be appreciated by critics and music lovers here in Europe. Mark my words.

Hopefully. I also hope that NEWS will really be released worldwide and won't be available only as an import here in Europe.
I haven't seen one review of ONA Live here in Germany and I think it might be for that reason.

Unless N.E.W.S is going to be bundled with the ONA Vegas DVD no one is going to buy a 48 minute cd of studio improv' and sound check filler. NEWS is the worst cd of his career, period.

i'm not in any uptight rush to get the CD. i will for sure eventually but it's a big world full of interesting music to play in the meantime

and i have to say i'm pleased by how they're maiing impprovements to their style over at the NPGMC. i like this year best so far.
the new site's dazzling, they're keeping us better informed and it looks like they've not only listened to us they're making positive changes.
let's see what happens. . .
