But I do think it's very interesting that Prince has moved into the instrumental realm as of late. The reason it is interesting to me is because Prince's last vocal album "The Rainbow Children" created such a stir and in many ways created a rift amongst fans (believers and non-believers alike).

That was not his last "vocal album", ONA was. So ... WRONG #1
TRC created not just a stir because of divisve religious lyrics, but also because of divisive and disrespectfull political lyircs on RACE. And of course it was a silly story about Banished Ones, Rainbow children, digital gardens and God... and in all truth a story that he seems to have derived from his "truth".

Now, though, it's almost as if Prince is saying "you can't handle the truth!" so I'm going to remove the words and you can make of it whatever you like. And in that regard, I think it is a brilliant move to release instrumental music.
The truth? HIS truth you mean. I say fuck his truth. Nobody can tell others that their truth is THE truth. especially not some fool like Prince who has changed truths ever so often that he now looks like a fucking lunatic.
And if you can't handle this opinion... I guess there will always be fanatics who believe Prince really knows it all.

abierman,

it has a nice ring when you laugh at the low-life opinions...and we're comin' to the chorus now.

do you like the jicks too? i just heard they're opening for radiohead. i was lucky to see them last month in a super-small club...and yes, SM is every bit the genius that he's made out to be.

Finally I run into a Pavement/SM/Jicks-fan! Malkmus definitely is the genius he's made out to be. Saw the Jicks 2 times already: two years ago and last time was just 2 months ago. Great stuff. I didn't know that they are supporting Radiohead, I guess only in the States. It is a known fact that Pavement worked with Radiohead's producer Nigel Godrich for their 'Terror Twilight'.
