The songs from the Front

There is a whole lotta garbage being talked about the people who were at the Front and heard the new songs. I was one of the people there and I am extremely pissed that I am being called names without justification.

Theis thread is to invite those of you who want to know about the songs to ask me directly. I said I wasn't going to do this but I can't stand by and watch people call Ricco, LaVisHh, and myself names.

What is it you want to know about the songs and please be very clear in asking your questions. I will in turn be clear in my answers and I hope we can put this to rest.

from what i figure the name-callin and such (which shouldn'tve went down) is from the frustration many folks here felt cuz none of the folks who saw ol' boy at the front were initially not very forthcoming on the appearance.

Why does it even have to come to that? Calling people names and stuff... and over some songs for cryin' out loud! That's so damn immature.

This whole "new music at The Front" thing is more likely than not a prank. Nobody's ever been so hush-hush or circuitous about sharing details on new music before. Something's up, and I can't really be bothered with these little insider reindeer games. If it exists, hopefully it'll be on CD one day and I can hear it. If not, oh well.

If this were any fishier, I'd be asking Charlie Tuna what the songs sounded like. fishslap

OK...I see...now no one has a question anymore...
or maybe they are over at the club right now...
or at work...or asleep...

So I will ask.

(1)Do you know the titles of the two songs? If so, what R they?

(2) Were they as fast (the beat) as 1+1+1 is 3?

(3) Were there lyrics or just instruments?

(4) If there were lyrics, could U understand them? If so; was
there a message in the lyrics?

(5) Did Price sit and listen as the music was played? music
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Thank you Melody!

1. No, I don't know the names of the songs. They were on CD and Prince's security guard gave them to the DJ himself. The 2nd song could be called Musicology. That was the chorus of the song.

2. The beat of the songs was very upbeat and danceable. 1st one was like a mix of something. 2nd one was upbeat song like 1+1+1 is 3.

3. Yes, both songs had lyrics. Don't know what they are except for the 2nd song had a chorus of Musicology.

4. Couldn't understand the lyrics of the 1st song. the beat was overwhelming. 2nd song had the chorus of Musicology and I'm sure it had a message.

5. Yes. Prince and Mani both sat in the back and watch people dance and listened to the music being played. When the 2nd song was over, they left.

Thank you again, Melody.

TruthBTold I understand that it was about 12 am when Prince came in and the party was winding down, people worked all day and they were ready for bed and some had to get up for work that morning, true? with that being said I can't see why people can't get this: Prince walks into a Prince party, people are wiping there eyes trying to believe what they are seeing, then all of a sudden you hear a new beat, and remember...Music was already playing when he walked so now all focus is on him now, correct? After the chaos dies down then some focus can be put on...is that Prince Music,As I recall the DJ never mentions that this was a new Prince tract it just started playing, right? Then al of a sudden you here prince in the Music then you notice this is not a beat you have heard before so you start thinking this must be New, damn. So with me not even being there I can say that someone saying the Music was the bomb can be an honest discretion of what was heard without remembering it a day later with everything else that went on. I would like to Thank the people that posted that, that had happened in the club that night, and I would have never thought people would have gotten crucified for not not telling there story in detail, man y'all are mean.I wanna ask you people something, Try to remember something yesterday in detail, but something that you did not have to much focus on, you don't have to tell me, but the answer will set these people free that were at the party, LOL.

Hi Dawanda!

Yes, He showed up about 12 am. We were all getting ready to leave. The DJ never said it was new music being played. For all we know, it could very well be one long jam! All I know is that yes we heard new music.

I'm not going to feed into the negativity that happened and is still happening as you can see from this thread when I wanted to clear things up.

Thanks Dawanda.

I had no idea that there was any controversy or name calling about the songs played at The Front. Sorry to hear that.

I have a few questions:

Can you approximate the time(duration) of the song(s)?

I know no one was looking at their watch when the music was played,so give it your best guess.

Were there any funky guitar, bass or keyboard parts(solos)?

Were there any backing vox, or was it only Prince's voice?

Did the songs remind you of any former Prince song you have heard? If so which and why?

Thank you very much.

The songs were about 3-4 minutes apiece. Like I said, he was there for a total of 10 minutes.

It was only Prince's voice.

Can't compare them until I hear them again. I can say that they did not immediately remind me of any song and I knew these were new.

Thanks. TongueBox

The MPLS group has a montly party that is always posted on the org's calendar. It was also posted on the NPGMC forum.

I am also one of the organizers of the parties.

Did the songs have a live vibe like on "the rainbow children"?

Did the songs feature some guitar solo or only funky guitar licks?

How was Prince's hair?

Thank u TruthBTold...

The songs did not have a feel like Rainbow Children. These were very upbeat songs. I didn't hear the words clearly so I can't say if they had any religious overtones. I do know the Musicology song has a meaning like Silicon.

The 1st one was a mix of some sort. 2nd one was funky all the way thru. Don't remember any solos.

The hair question has been answered in a previous response.

Thank you. jimipaisley

TruthBTold..thanks for the information. I'm not familiar with your screenname, so I apologize if I sound clueless, but is this the first time you've been on the org since that night at the Front?

For my part, I was pretty much solely frustrated with RiccoTheArtist, who had no problems posting in multiple forums on both sites that I HEARD THE NEW SONGS yet every time someone would follow that up with "really? what did they sound like?" there would either be no answer or "they was the bomb."

I'm glad to hear that someone who was at the Front when Prince came in actually paid some attention to the songs and took some time to let the rest of us know something about them.

If the situation was reversed, wouldn't you want someone to mention the actual SONGS? I think that it was a particularly hot issue b/c there is no music at the club (STILL) and then there was that bizarre post on the club's Music News, "chastising" prince (or not? who knows).

If you really feel that the people who were at the Front can't be expected to remember anything about the songs, then perhaps you could let the club know that next time in order to save grief on BOTH sides, they could possibly release some details on that virtually neglected Music News page of theirs? You know, then all of us members who didn't get to hear the songs wouldn't have to bother all of you.

TruthBTold, I don't remember seeing your name on any of the threads where certain people who were there repeatedly ignored all the questions about the songs - one person in particular. I know that if I heard a new Prince song, I would definitely give all the information I could possibly remember to the members, and I'd be eager to answer further questions and talk about the songs.

TruthBTold, thank you for describing what you heard in those songs. There's nothing going on in the club in terms of music so far this year, so when we hear about new songs being played, it's painful when days and days and days go by and still nobody will give even a basic description.

Since then, more than one person who was there gave his or her take..which is wonderful, and if you ask me, is how it should have been in the first place.

Now I see why you don't like me, LOL sorry, but I can't remember much more than me and some friends bobbing our heads saying these songs are the bomb, sorry if I offended you, I will never give anymore reports on Prince (which really was a Thank you to him) of anykind, I have learned a very valuble lesson, Peace Thanks TruthBTold

Hi. No, I have posted on the org before.

The post on NPG was their doing. It was on there by the time we all got home to post it. Why they put it out there like that, I don't know.

To come to Ricco's defense, he was in a lot of pain that night from his leg. He was actually leaving when the limo showed up. I sat next to him during the songs and no he didn't remember anything about them because he was in shock and awe from Prince showing up and a LOT of pain. Please, if you would, stop the bickering between you too.

The reason I didn't want to answer in the first place was because everyone was getting so angry about not hearing the songs first that I was turned off. As you can see, I am answering all questions as they come in question form and not responding to the negative comments.

I hope I answered your questions.

Thank you, theblueangel.

TruthBTold:

Did the new songs have a "band" sound to them (a la The Rainbow Children) or a more one-man-production sound to them (a la "Reflection" and many of the songs released during NPGMC year #1)?

Peace.
