Well I guess you all have seen the dawn...First I would like to correct the statement that white people went to Africa and stole black people...Africans captured and sold their own people to the Dutch!!! You really need to read more and say less!!! I am white too and I am also taking Prince's lyrics and racial and offensive!!
Why all of a sudden all racial relgious attitude...If you have a message say it and get over it. I have been a Prince fan since 1979 and have loved all he has done, even the Rainbow Children...But even there goes goes overboard. If we are all supposed to be one, then why is white and black mentioned...Also why choose one religion
over anothe, I believe in one God...period. I choose no religion...who's to say which one is the correct way to praise God and how God wants to be praised!!! Give me a break...They are all in it for the money!!! Look at the Vatican...there's your perfect example!!! I pra to one God, and I lead a good life, but most of all I treat everyone the way I want to be treated!!!
You all need to get a life and move forward, why do people keep taking 1step forward and 10 steps backward? answer that!!!
"They whisper secrets only they 2 can hear"

New lyrix from Prince in the Vs room:

THE MOORS IN SPAIN
by Prince (incomplete)

If this great African culture were alive 2day
We’d b 400 years more advanced
From Arabia they came 2 blossom in Spain
And 2 the beat of the drum they danced

Masters of the Arts and all industry
While France, England and all Germany
Wallowed in the mire of their own bigotry
The Moors were the ones who were truly free

Civilization came 2 Europe thru the Greek
Who were simply Africans who came from the Nile
The Greeks gave it 2 Rome who lost their way home
And it stayed that way 4 quite a while

Under their own misconception of Christianity
The barbaric (?) Europeans suffered greatly
While the Catholic Church was staking it’s claim
The Moors were making great gains
Introducing strawberries, lemons and sugarcane
Algebra, chemistry from the Moors this all came
Their contributions 2 knowledge, 2 numerous 2 name
While in Europe there were no public libraries, the Moors in Spain
Had 70, 600 thousand manuscripts and 17 universities

Not hardly a prisoner in the mind of society
In the Spain the Moors were once truly free

The one who is most gifted cannot lead the way in a world that never respected authority…
The sword of the Moor would have never left its sheath if the longhaired barbarian who opposed them would have only seen
That 2 win a war against the so-called “black infidels”
Brings about a peace that cannot last
But I guess all’s well that ends well… well it ain’t over

Admittedly I am new to this conversation. But as a white person with very close friends of all races and an adopted sibling who happens to be black, I am extremely bothered by the questioning and criticism knowledge going on in this string. I hate to sound all "lollipops and roses", but I think many people are missing a fundamental point. Regardless of what your personal view of history may be, in theory, the beauty of our country (the United States), but , for that matter, in many countries around the world, is that we have the freedom to learn, express, and share differing points of view regardless of age, race, or socio-economic status. If Prince has recently taken it upon himself to embark on a new path of learning and has elected to share his education with us, he should be applauded for that and not attacked and cursed. If you don't agree or don't like what you hear, simply don't listen. However, don't belittle or berate someone for sharing knowledge. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that women, children, and people of color were not considered capable of possessing knowlegde at all in this country, and in some parts of the world, these segments of the population still don't enjoy these simple rights that we in the United States take for granted on a fundamental level each and every day.

Prince's genius is far too complex for the general public. His brain is working at warp speed. Most people can not understand his music, let alone his lyrical content. He is trying to educate the masses, but it's like casting pearls to the swine. He is still by far the best musician/songwriter on the planet in our time and maybe all time.

Ohhh shut up you dummy. Prince 's lyrics are not "genius", especially not this load of RACIST REVISIONIST crap. Go to school and find out for yourself. There are lots of people here who explained WHY Prince is talking crap, so I bet you did not even READ IT , but if you do you might be able to learn something.... if you are willing and not just sucking up to your lunatic hero, who feels the need to discriminate between black and white constantly. Pathetic for a man who used to be be positive and inclusive. Now he is just becoming a negative bitter and exclusive loser.

Um...ok...I bought TRC and "learned" to like it. But, I was hoping he'd change his sound after though. Well, looks like the new album will have the same lyrical style as TRC. There is hope though people! Look at his history, he works in "2's"! From the beginning..."For U" and "Prince"; "Dirty Mind" and "Controversy"; "1999" and "Purple Rain"...you can figure out the rest!

So...look more forward to the album "after" this next one. Although I have no doubt this next album will be worth listening to I, like many of you, want the old "non-preaching, SEXUAL" Prince back again! Think about the future!

I am apalled at some of the knee jerk racist responses on this thread. The group Public Enemy have obviously passed a lot of you guys by! I think that black people should have a right to express their point of view on history & slavery without people jumping down their throats. The fact that people of colour have different shades and western sounding surnames is proof of what went down in the past. Prince covered this area with Family Names and these latest lyrics are just expanding further from there. I wonder if folks point of view would be less defensive & paranoid if Prince were a jew speaking about the jewish holocaust?

Great! After ages I finally found something interesting on this site.Even made me say something myself, not that it's of any worth.wink
Artists have probably a closer link to their emotions, that's why they can create beautiful art, therefore they might just feel things more intense. As does Prince with his midlife-crisis.One can't give a toss about what he says these days, in a few years it will be just another religion, view, whatever.
Up to these lyrics I could not agree with his preaching, even these lyrics can be challenged, of course. However, this thread reminds me of the good old times with Kellyanne and Slag around.Eventually posts with more than stupid Star-talk of people without a life.
If the lyrics are racist towards whites, I don't know, I don't care about race.
I just wonder if Prince had been discussing modern times too, and mentioning this other continent, would he have to relocate to Guantanamo Bay ?
Even if he is wrong with his statement, we don't like people like him talking about history. Distracting us from our happy lives. Why think of "deep" stuff, care for conflicts undertaken only so that we can happily drive our third SUV, and not have to worry about turning off electricity when leaving the house? Thank God, I was born on the "right" continent.
Give me more Disnaeland, give me guns ( any real man should have one, ask today's arabs),give me fame, but please, turn off my brain.
