F Y I

Here's what I did at work today...

I logged into the Pearl Jam site. I looked through the new bootleg list they have of their recent shows in the US in April and May of this year. I selected a show I wanted to buy, I ordered it, got immediate confirmation of my order and was sent a link enabling me to d/load the show I had just ordered while I wait for the actual cds.

TuT TuT NPGMC'03.

Well you can see where NPGMC is coming from. Who here would even consider paying for Prince's shows like that?
RIP sad

If he made available some quality stuff (bootlegs and well-reviewed shows), probably most of the Orgers (definitely I).

I'd pay for some of the back shows in a heartbeat.

I was being ironic.

Of course we would all love to have the opportunity to do this through NPGMC, it just isn't going to happen. The biggest problem with the club is the fact that it falls so far short of it's potential.

Why can't we pay to download last years celebration gigs?

Why can't we pay to download soundchecks and aftershows from the last tour, or even the main shows?

Why can't we pay $.99 per song for vault material?

Why can't the NPG-MUSIC-CLUB put the focus back onto music?

These are my expectations, I don't want something for nothing and would gladly pay, but is there any chance?

Is this the sound of freedom?

Why is it that we can pay bootleggers for the music but we can't pay Prince?
RIP sad

TheEnglishGent, you just wrote one of the most intelligent, downright REASONABLE posts I've read so far about what the music club SHOULD be doing.

shausler, you took a no-boot vow??? why? the club certainly hasn't kept ITS promise to release the jams from "the vault" - and no, i don't mean the discography wink

Exactly!
It's obvious Sabotage, Premium and the other bootleg companies are doing rather nicely releasing material that could so easily be released from Prince himself!

There's obviously many of us out here quite prepared to spend money on un-released material...so get ur act 2gether, P!

Of course, there are some people who will 'obey' you and will never buy an un-official release. Shame, you guys don't know what you're missing out on.

'KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD' - has no relevance in 2003.
