You should have taken the option to apologize.

You did do something wrong, you violated their prime directive: You are not allowed to make or transfer a copy of Club Content to someone else.

Of course they were never going to really terminate your membership for this minor offence ... it would ruin their web business instantly as there's not a member who doesn't share with friends. Filesharing cannot currently be controlled and they know it.

It was the first time they were ever directly challenged on one of NPGMC's most important needs; the need to control their intellectual property. They had no choice but to respond as clearly as possible in accordance with their business needs and membership rules.

Apologizing would have shown that you understood and respected NPGMCs needs.

m3taverse, can you understand the concept that i was sharing with ANOTHER PAYING MEMBER OF THE NPGMC? that's extremely different from me sharing it with joe schmoe.

and "prime directive"? SOMEone's a trekkie, eh?

by the way, if anyone (club member or no) wants to orgNote me to talk about this whole file-sharing issue (wink wink), please do...

From NPGMCs point of view, what is the alternative to responding the way they did? Relaxing the very easy to understand "no sharing whatsoever" rule on the first occassion they're ever challenged on it?

um, what? there shouldn't be anything wrong with one member sharing something with another member who for whatever reason was unable to be at their computer during the few hours that a certain file was made available.

do you disagree with that, m3taverse?

Blueangel, I assure you he DOES understand it - but rules were clear, not to share with anyone.

We all know that this rule is pretty hard not to follow but to make it work, they do know it too. You just gave them the opportunity to remark it to the whole prince community. If they've been about to suspend or cancel your membership 'cause of you sharing ther reflection song with members they will not hesitate to do whatever they think they should do in any other filesharing case.

Whatsoever, that idea of releasing a new song just for some days is not a good idea. New members want new music and sure they won't find it fair to listen from npgmc: sorry you're late, or from another member: sorry you're late and I cannot share this song with you.

There's something that's not working out well in here. This donation idea is driving me crazy.

I do not necessarily disagree with that, all I’m saying is that you cannot expect NPGMC to relax the simple "no sharing" rule the first time its challenged.

Never understood that phrase, "brutally honest". Why is brutality needed for something that's supposed to set you free?

I would like to take this time to apologize to you, DeVaniti. I nmy posts directed to you, I have been mean and spiteful. Even though it seems to me that you are purposely not responding to my responses to your posts, I like your definition of "brutally honest". You say what you feel, regardless of how people feel about it or respond to it and I respect that. On the same token, I also feel that I am brutally honest when it comes to how I feel about Prince and his business practices. Others may see it as complaining or whining and I may see it as telling it like it is: my truth, my belief, my opinion.

As far as the file sharing is concerned: My opinion is that, outside of true die-hard Prince fans, a lot of whom are in the club, there are not a lot of people interested in the music. There were folks who are on other sides of the world who missed Reflection, who missed the mixes in the GlamSlam room and depending on how Prince feels, these tracks may or may not become available again. There's probably not a die-hard fan who wouldn't buy the official release, should Prince decide to release them. I don't see what wrong with sharing the music files with other club members.

well, the thing is, m3taverse, they DID in essence relax the rule, because i'm back in and i "openly admitted" to having sent the mp3 to many members.

if you don't see what's so wrong about one member sharing with another, then why are you arguing with me?

let me ask you a question...did you get to hear the reflection song?

in the interest of fairness, i should pass on the last piece of information that was sent to me:

"Thank u 4 ur promise. And there will absolutely b more music in the NPGMC this year. Just not all at one time. It will b spread out over the year, as Prince releases it."

well, at least they've finally said they will ABSOLUTELY be more music.

Stymie, I accept your apology, and you are right, my ignoring you has been deliberate. wink Now we shall move on.

I don't think the problem was actually with the file sharing directly so to speak. The problem may have risen out of the gall in posting about it.

Think of it this way...if someone came to your house and took something that you gave them with explicit instructions not to share it with anyone else. Then not only does this person ignore your instructions but has the nerve to paint a sign saying they've done so on the front of your house for all the world to see, how would you feel and how would you respond?

I agree that the club has some improvements to make. I personally haven't had any problems with it, but I have read the complaints of others. It is my hope that the folks at Pixus and Paisely Park take care of them soon, so that everyone can hangout and get back to the business of enjoying being Prince fans.

Not at all, really it's a matter of perception. The truth only hurts when one doesn't want to face it. Me personally, I prefer the truth, not matter how painful, because the agony of deception is far worse.

Glad you're back in BlueAngel smile I think sharing the song w/ members is fine, just don't be so vocal about it in the future if you're gonna do it at all. I mean, did you have to put it on a thread for all to see? That's what PM's are for wink You knew it was risky, that's why you put the disclaimer to PP9 on your post lol I'm not beating up on you smile just resist the urge to say absolutely everything, sometimes it's better that way...

heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart
