Npgmc charging for mp3's?

So what if they did this.. lets say, to the demo section of the site. 10 unreleased mp3's at $1.99 a piece, you get a nice litte picture and cover for your 'mix of demo's'. Lets say they ranged from 1982-88 for the first set, just a collage of his best from that period.

Thats $20 for a "album" of mp3's. If you think about it, thats about how much a disk was in year two.

Would u be cool with this?

$.99 a song like Apple did sounds fine to me.

$2 / mp3? What kind of idiocy is this? FREE mp3s (especially since the codec they use is so crap), and sell SHNs (no quality loss). See upcoming Pearl Jam official tour "bootlegs", or Phish...

Hell, what's wrong with just releasing CDs? They could EASILY sell professional CDs for $10 / piece.

Here are some ideas I had a year or so ago:

http://groups.google.com/...%404ax.com

Now THAT would be a good start for a music club.

Of course, your thinking on the normal view upon this whole concept. This is NPGMC were talkin bout here.. I had to think up the most idiotic thing they would do.. and charging for low quality mp3's is something they would probably do.. It takes too much out of them to press a cd, Its too much work for ol' Prince..

So it's come to pre-criticizing what they might do?

instead of 10 unrleased tracks that you have to buy as mp3s from the music club, how about ALL of the unreleased tracks as AAC files at the Apple Music Store at .99 each or grouped into "albums" of 12-15 songs for 9.99 each.

so it's come to a $25 "donation" for one new song that was yanked after a few days? it's been 3 weeks now, it's insulting that he hasn't given us anything.

Twenty bucks for a cd I have to burn & has no resale value? How about three bucks for a whole cd? By having the consumer download & burn the cds there are no packaging costs, no shipping charges, no storage costs, no pressing fees, no middle man mark-up, etc. Consumers should boycott these cd single downloads the big record companies are going with lately. Two bucks for a download song is outrageous. Two bucks for some coding you can transfer to a cd you have to buy. That makes an investment of roughly $3 for one song that will be available in a few weeks. If you paid $3 for one song at the local record store you would think thats a little high priced for a one song cd single.
