I agree. It's horrible.
Terrible cheesy 3D work, I hate the way the images pixelate as they zoom in, the purple smoke when you exit rooms takes too long and looks bad anyway, the typography is bad (as always), it's just far too complicated, there's no point to any of it !!

theres just no pleasing some people.

Well, I do not agree it is that bad, but adjusting to your comments
might take more bandwidth than it already does.

It helps not thinking of it like a website, though...

OK, Im not going for nor against on this issue.

Personally, I think (from what Ive seen of it) It's a great site in my eyes. Im not talking content, Im talking graphics.

Everyone says the graphics are "dated" and the website looks "shit" or whatever.

My question to those people is:

As compared to what?

Can u list for me websites where the graphics are light years superior to NPGMC so I can have some comparison as to what the ideal is?

Like the content,hate the design

As a website, as much as I may bitch about the content, it looks way better than year one and two. At least something changes everyday.

true, stymie...although if you think about it, what really has changed? prince appears in this room or that room, and every couple weeks they change the 2 or 3 songs in the reflection room, but they're all not only from the ahdio shows..they are either edits or exactly the same as the stuff we all should have anyway (and if there's still stuff out there you haven't bought...go buy it! you could hook yourself UP with twenny-fih bucks.

some people might say "the reflection room is just that: a REFLECTION on past music, so you can't expect NEW music in there!" - um, which conveniently ignores the fact that when i signed up that first night (and for the next 4 days or so) there WAS new music available on the site: one song, in the (guess what?) REFLECTION room.

i don't know where i got the fucked-up idea that there'd be new music in that place, SHEEEIT...

we haven't even heard a damn thing about the release of the damn dvd, which could mean he's changed his mind again or we could get it later in the year, or next year, or never.

paisleypark9 has a particularly nauseating post defending the club and prince for not providing any content - yes, the site "looks" nice, but it's supposed to be a MUSIC club, not an Internet Community Club. paisley's whole tone towards prince is so...submissive and creepy. i really DO get strong cult vibes outta that place, it's kinda creepy.

they should change the name to the NPGInternetCommunityClub if they can't be bothered to release music.

i can't help thinking that if another artist...say bjork for example...had a website exactly like it and the npgmc had remained simple as it has the last two years...people would be saying...now prince should do something like this...

of course everyone will deny that...but realistically i think a lot of people complain about the design of the site just because it's prince...

I've been a professional web designer for...7 years now, and what I meant was, in every respect, that site is absolutely horrendous. Design (typography &c...), accessibility, usability (navigation &c...), content (flat world? eh?), everything. "Cheesy" is, indeed, the word.

I agree, it takes to long to get to where you wanna go... I don't mind flash sites as long as they are done right. He should of had www.2advanced.com/flashindex.htm develope the site.
