Please share your NPG Music Club memories !!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear God. I remember the days of the NPG music club. I jumped on board in 2004 or 2005. It brought me a lot of joy. Here are my memories:

For some reason, I was downloading using my girlfriend's computer and we had dial-up. I remember when it was downloading, it played the same clip of the song over and over again, and I would listen to it every time I went in the room to check on the download progress. That clip is STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD!!!!

Prince giving a download called C-NOTE in lieu of $100 refund.

Feeling it was such a MIRACLE to download NEW ALBUMS that were really good albums too like "The Chocolate Invasion" and "The Slaughterhouse".

Walking into Best Buy and being shocked to see "NEWS" of all things on the shelf (!)

Prince suddenly pulls the plug: the abrupt and inexplicable end of the music club.

Please reflect on your own unique and special memories regarding the NPG Music Club in the comments below.

  • Going into the NPGMC board room to enter the live chat room. You could not swear in there but folks were able to swear by typing sh (space) it, lol. Moderators like P9 etc.
  • GlamSlam room on Friday nights where you enter a darkened room where a crowd was talking and then you clicked to play a music clip.
  • Going to the Relection Room.
  • Going to the room to view videos of listen to tracks or purchase tracks.
  • The Religion room where you would see biblical passages posted.
  • Clicking on paper on a table where you could read.
  • Finding a secret room/entrance (I had heard whispers about it).
  • Checking out the membership room where you could purchase tix to shows.
  • NPGMC music room and what was available to purchase.
  • The music room where you would see Prince standing and the musical instruments on display.
  • The forums where you had to be careful what you posted (like walking on eggshells).
  • Clicking on the vases that would spew purple smoke to exit or using the window to exit.

And Prince pulled the plug due to trade mark issues. https://prince.org/msg/13/194742

Once the plug was pulled on the NPGMC the mass exodus from that site which was current org members and NPGMC orphans came to the org. Most if not all Prince fams were members of the org, NPGMC, GlamSlam and Housequake etc., at that time.
