NPGMC chat help? At the moment I can't access the NPGMC Chat.
When I click on the wall to chat I just get a blank square where the chat should be. Anyone got any suggestions as to what I need to do to get it to work properly? (and yes, I have emailed NPGMC about this, but no doubt they're inundated at the moment, so I don't expect an answer for a few days) I know I'm not the only person who's having trouble with the chat room, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try the html version: http://www.npgmusicclub.c...foyer.html
I did some cache cleaning, and clicked refresh a few times... I still have to do this for it to work.

To use the chat, a Java Virtual Machine needs to be installed on your system. This used to come with Windows, but Microsoft is not allowed to distribute one anymore.
So people with a relatively new system setup will have no Java VM setup, and no message telling them to get one. It would be possible for NPGMC to set up the chat in such a way that the Java VM install would start automatically if needed, but perhaps they'll add that later. Get the Sun Java Virtual Machine here: http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html "this especially prepared potato is called pomme de terre"

Thanks for the help, but nothing seems to work.
I've been to the Java downloads site, and updated to the latest version of Java, but I still can't access the chat. I've tried accessing it through the html site instead of the flash site but it didn't make any difference. I'm at a loss as to what to do... .

I've also had problems with the chat room, the first time I tried to go in-I hit the chat button and my whole computer turned off. Now when I go to it, the window comes up but I am not able to do anything from there except close. But then boxes will appear on the screen flashing on and off.

sounds like you both might be having java problems. Your computers might not have the proper files installed. One good way to know you have all the latest updates is to get a program called Big Fix. It's free at www.bigfix.com. It's a great tool and saves a lot of time of wondering if you have the latest updates and security patches for everything.
Another one to try is www.pcpitstop.com. It will tell you if you have any problems with your machine. hope this helps (even for people who don't have java probs, it's worth checking out). Essential stuff. open yo mind, the entire universe you'll find

i had the same problem, i got an email from npg within 30 minutes to help, anyway for me it was java i downloaded v1.4 and it works, so if you have java make sure it is enabled in your internet security settings, go to custom and check the box to allow java or lower the security level.
are u using ie v6 as i think you need this too. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

This is doing my head in.I've downloaded Java 4.1 three times now and in wont finish installing properly but the site says I have it installed. When I go in the chat it loads but the messages flash on and off and the scroll bar messes up if I use it. Aaaargh.
