I tried to click on the waterfall in front of the NPG mansion but I don't get anything. I just tried the new site for the first time today, did I miss anything? and if so what?

All you've missed so far is a sunflower/daisy on the main steps outside (didn't do anything) and an N on the floor of the main entrance hall, which has now gone and been replaced with an E in a different location.

There's a number of things that you can click on, but nothing happens.

If you go into the theatre room (directly, rather than via the Videoclips room), you can click on some members of the audience, but nothing happens.

Plus, the lights in the fire room (before you go into the forum) are all clickable, but again nothing happens.

Click the fire in the "Time" room and a message about time not existing will appear and "the answer to the ? is yes"
I have no idea what he is talking about.
