This was in my email from OneNPG: - - ABOUT ONE NPG - - -ONE NPG is an unofficial, non-sanctioned organization created by fans with positive and optimistic aims of bringing together the worldwide audience around the goal of encouraging Prince to release works from his vault.we will not be making demands for anything from Prince. we simply want to be a voice for making our collective wishes known. simple as that.our desire to lead this project anonymously is based on our intended focus on the whole, not the individual. we are ONE NPG together, not a group led by a few people. we are here as a catalyst and organizing entity. we are here to listen.- - - klick klick

I imagine this being said in lieu of the regular preamble from One Song.
So it's not from Prince and company right yall?
Then what about that Donna tweet. And Jeremy, J7, Funkysocksmell mentioning it?
These people in the mix do not do these things of their own accord..they are purple bots you see..
Prince probably told Ida to throw that pillow in that one interview
And can someone email them to state who they are individually then? Names! "Climb in my fur."

...and the official word from Prince is:
"NPG Records has no affiliation with ONENPG.ORG. and just found out about it today. the NPG's lawyers are all over this and have asked for the site to be shut down."
So glad I stayed away from it.

On what possible grounds can prince's lawyers shut it down? It's not like there is any music there. Is this like the 3rd eye cease & desist? Maybe it is just some fans but you can't shut down something for bringing fans together. If you could the org wouldn't be here any more. RIP

Is there a civil war in Paisley Park? What the hell? Well, I guess I already get spam emails from people claiming to be Nigerian princes, so no harm if I get spam emails as a result of this. but to what goal? surely the site going black now is hindering people from actually signing up
it's kind of telling that we're now in a situation where we can't even be sure if a new prince site is actually prince's new site or just a fanmade something or other. then there's his, probably, new official site "prince2013" which already changed url's once in under a month and which has gone from having 3 vids on it to having only 1 vid for purchase and no other info at all.
the "montreux" promo is gone now, as is the advertisement for andy's album. which seems like a rather bad move if you actually start out with these promo videos and then have them taken down again just a week or so later.
then there's the whole 3rdEyeGirl website/twitter/facebook side of things where we got to buy a few new tracks (which was a cool surprise and which were all fine songs imo). yet, what exactly is 3rdEyeGirl supposed to be? they toyed with the whole thing for a while and then they just let it fade out. the music appeared but the back story simultaniously disappeared.
anyway, i'm still kind of surprised that there isn't more music actually. we could handle at least a song each week. prince knows this. and prince can supply. there are tons of tracks that he's recorded since his split from warners which we've never even heard about. if he doesn't feel it is the right time for prime era stuff, he could easily shower us with lots of goodies from a later date.
meanwhile, we're getting some tracks on his various sites, which are cool. but then there's an awful lots of talk about 'prince's new, as yet unnamed album' in the media. so are we going to get an album, featuring all the tracks we're already buying now? somehow that would take all the fun (or at least most of it) out of buying these tracks now.
what i would love to see would be a transparant site where he'd actually explain what he was releasing. a bit of info on the songs. like who plays on it. when it was recorded. does it belong to an album that will be released?
better yet, a section for new songs and a section for 'old' songs (a 'from the vault' section if you will). i'm possibly in the minority but i would love to hear the 'madrid 2 chicago' album that was hinted at on the npgmc and which we even got 2 songs from at one point.
but i'm digressing into wishing territory again. that's what prince does to you.
all the recent activity has been pretty cool imo, but it lacks a certain overview and a kind of commitment and clarity to keep a person's interest hooked.
the shenanigans aside, it would be best to have one official site with a clean, simple url and a decent explanation about what is happening and why. what is the music that we're buying, is it an advance from a new album or is it a one off tracks that won't be released elsewhere now or in the future?
anyone coming back from a holiday or simply checking out the org again after a break of a few weeks is comig here to find 49 threads on all this different stuff going on and won't be able to make heads or tails of it. with some luck they'll be able to find the new songs, yes, but they'll have already missed out on a lot of the 'action' since everything appears for two days and is consequently either blacked out or simply ignored in favor of something even more unlikely.
well, only in prince land, i guess one thing tho, it's all still pretty exciting.
but as always with prince it just feels like it could all be so much more and it could have a lot more momentum if he'd focus a bit more on the music and a bit less on the games or the mysterious behaviour.
we'll talk about a \new/ website for a while, but ultimately nothing sets a community like the org alight like a new song being released.
prince actually starting a vault release site would create more buzz, not only over here, but on all music sites in general, than 17 websites with hyroglyphic url's ever could.

Nonsense. What would be the legal grounds for Prince's lawyers to be all over it? Same as the bullshit cease & desist sent to 3rdEyeGirl

imo, this is all part of some storyline created by Prince. I think the connection of ONENPG to PP is through 3rdEyeGirl.... this is not the end of the story.

Nothing left but a black screen at the moment. Love...thy will b done
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
exactly. if this new site is actually official, then what is the purpose of all these games?
is it just an easter egg hunt strictly for fans?
because, who besides us even cares?
if this site had gone live with "moonbeam levels" streaming and a countdown to more songs you can bet your ass media would pick that up and it would be reported in lots of places.
prince's vault is mythological beyond the org and it would at least get some print with regular music magazines and blogs etc.
but opening up a site, having an email drive and then shutting it down again?
unless it opens up again tomorrow with a valentine's offering, i can't see how this is in any way good promotion, marketing or publicity.
the 3rdEyeGirl site simply showing up with those songs for sale was the best thing that happened in prince land in 3 years.
they're taking 2 steps back now.

The goal was to see if there really is demand. If a few thousand people registered, mission accomplished. So it gets taken down and we talk about it more. RIP

Yeah, that's what happened when The Digital Garden shut down.
I don't know what to think now. The site looked legit to me, especially in light of how we all found out about it. Chaos and disorder. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

To see how much dmeand there is, yes. But if it isnt a million or more then to him it wont be worth it.
But the thing is, most people who would END up listneing or buying albums of vault material, do not post on the org or online rather. They arent addicted or obsessed like we are, so Paisley should not just rely on the results from the little of us.
