If that was the case it would have been a piece of piss to upload a new graphic without the symbol.

Also, if the symol was the problem, wouldn't the Twitter account have been shut down too? It's all very odd.

RIP sad

I'm no intellectual property expert, but the term NPG itself is probably a trademark. But in any case, I don't think the person or people who put the website up did so intending to make trouble with Prince. If they weren't told to do it, they must have at least thought he would like it. Otherwise, they'd be complaining on here about how Prince ruined their plans.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

oh come on u know it's official. remember when 3rdeyegirl first came around and the "doc-talk" on how she wanted 2 sell some pictures of prince? (btw when do we get to c them? razz )

imo there was too much effort put into this site and it's too similar to other Prince's sites right now (and I mean not only the fonts used). I still think it's official and we'll c onenpg back soon.

but u know...

Everything you think is true wink

He would probably only release what is out there already (Because of the uploading to sites). If he chooses to release some vault stuff, I'm okay with that.

And I believe that Prince is aware of the ONENPG.org and smoke screen with the lawyer bit.

Prince is playing with all of us.

He may just want to get email count of people who would be interested in purchasing vault material.

The sad thing is that Prince really thinks he is on to some genius creative stuff with lawyers. He doesn't know what is cringe-worthy and what isn't. He is jugheading and Tony M'ing himself and can't figure out the routine is way past this side of stale and overblown, and not funny.

Just like the hidden track on 20Ten, he think's he's really on to something. Sad, but if it means we get vault stuff, I'm willing to clown on him for his corny ways.

Part of me thinks that if it was a group/collective of hardcore fans AND they had a cease and desist type of thing handed to them then it would be all over this site (meaning the actual individuals would be moaning).

It's not like most people on the receiving end of what is perceived as heavy handed tactics from Prince's legal team, ever shy away from ripping him to pieces about it.

Another part of me (hee-hee! MJ) thinks that the ONENPG site WAS using the official Prince symbol (copyright/reg trademark etc) in its graphics and that's tantamount to waving a red rag to a bull if unofficial. So its possible Prince shut this down with the quickness.

Who knows? Smoke and mirrors...

Well, there probably are at least a few extremely naive fans that do think it is against the law to make a website pleading with your favorite artist to open the vault.

Obviously, only those who really know, have all the facts and the absolute truth, but I am 95% convinced it was a dumb ploy by Prince.

Prince could actually be naive or bully enough to think he could shut the site down if he didn't put it up, but who knows? Somebody.

past experience? how does his doing things the wrong way before mean he can't be doing something better now.

In the case of Lotusflow3r you had to spend $77 without knowing what you'd get for your money. This time around it costs $88 cents for a song or $1.77 for a video. You get what you pay for, the prices are competitive with other outlets.

People want new material and vault content including unlreasesd albums, concerts, videos, movies. Prince isn't going to just give this stuff away. If he's doing things reasonably right, isn't the right thing to do to support it by actually paying for the music? If you bought everything he's commercially released in the past 3+ years it's only cost about $10.

Persoanally I'd rather see a steady stream of releases of music, videos, concerts, etc, that meant spending 10x that each year. And that's simply not going to happen if people keep stealing his work instead of paying the small price he charges for it.

[Edited 2/14/13 7:49am]

I am smart enough and dumb enough to fall for a Prince website again. Some who have more restraint than I do, don't like getting screwed. Prince has screwed fans with websites and Crystal Balls OVER AND OVER AND OVER...and then made fun of the $77 by putting 77 tracks on 20Ten.

So some fans who decide to never give him another online dollar...I respect them.

I'm just too obsessed to not fall for it all over again. I wish I were smarter, but I am what I am, and I love me.

Basically, he hasnt released anything outstanding in about 17 years anyway, so I dont know what all the fuss is about!! My cut-off point for anything official was Emancipation in 1996!! Everything else after that has been very poor-standard!!

After that I got The War jam session and then the VERY last bootleg I got, in terms of performance date and acquistion date, was the Septimo TV Show, which I still play down to today!! The One Night Alone live Box-Set, with the It Aint Over aftershow compilation, just sits on my shelves gathering dust, as does all his official releases after Emancipation, particularly the ones I got FREE with newspapers!!

PurpleSpirit319= Bart "Everything Prince has ever done since....REALLY SUCKS."

djThunderfunk= Kookmuziq, MASTERPIECE!!!

Well, not really, but you both are wrong.

Prince has a lot of music in the last few years that is great. Tons of people older than 35 show an odd resistance to new music or change of any kind. I fight this at times, but with music, I make sure I don't just hear the music, I LISTEN to it. I still hate Daddy Pop after 20 plus years, but I gave it my all to like it. Planet Earth is no Masterpiece, but it's a very good album. Many on here could see every wrinkle on their face looking at the back of the cd, since they hardly played it more than once...

DJ Thunder: If you really believe somebody complaining is why Prince hasn't released anything lately, you really should consider getting some help for that.

Yes, Prince has serious issues going in his head. He's the last one on Earth to let ANYBODY dictate how he releases music. Especially Fans he keeps screwing over. HE does what HE wants.

I havent even paid 88c for the new songs on the 3rdEyeGirl site!! I listened to them for FREE on Facebook, so why would I PAY for them ???

I am OK with OneNPG.org having my email address, but I am sure glad that I didnt give over my credit or debit card details and/or Bank details, and my address!! biggrin biggrin biggrin

I have no idea where you get this idea:

"DJ Thunder: If you really believe somebody complaining is why Prince hasn't released anything lately, you really should consider getting some help for that."

I was clearly refering to the statement of why should I buy it when I can listen for free. This is the attitude that I'm saying makes Prince not want his stuff on the internet and call his fans bootleggers.

There's no Bart in this discussion either, I totally get being burned and not buying now. That's not near the level of being like Bart. I don't get the, why whould I pay if I can find it for free, thing, though. So I opined on it. That's what we do around here, no?

There's no evidence Prince 'made fun of the $77 by putting 77 tracks on 20ten.' The number is significant to Prince and has been for years.

Lest I also remind you that the entire 20ten album was available free with a newspaper. It cost most people less than £1.00.

Certainly, that's why I gave him the benefit of the doubt and supposed it was just pure ignorance at work.

But, I would qualify your second statement by saying that most of the people who got 20Ten got it for free, or less than a pound. Everybody on this side of the pond has had to pay the eBay going rate or just plain steal it... neither of which I've yet been compelled to do.

Kinda like C-note?....C'mon now....we know prince has "fun" w/ his fans. He used to even put cameras in record displays to watch his fans clamoring over his records on release dates. This is all fair and reasonable evidence that 77 trax were in whatever album. Any reasonable person would draw that conclusion....prince knows that, and its why he did it. Stop being silly.

Or it shut itself down voluntarily, depending on which version you believe.
