Seriously, to anyone who thinks that by expressing my disatisfaction in writing to the NPGMC about they way they ran the show in 2002, that I somehow helped to shut down the Club.

I don't believe that for a second, but IF it's the case, I'm sorry I "ruined" it for the rest of you.I never contacted the BBB, was never rude nor unreasonable with the club, never cursed in my letters to them nor insulted anyone.

I have decided not to rejoin for this year if it comes back, and that's all I ever "threatened" to do in the first place.

I hope the people that want it back, get it soon, and I hope it's run as effectively and effeciantly as it can be.

Don't even worry about it, Herb.

Prince wouldn't stop doing anything he wanted to do, regardless what anyone of the fans said or did.

Maybe we should ask Larry? He Prince's boss and savoir.

You all got what they said you would get, but that wasn't enough for your greedy selves who thought because you paid $100. you was intitled to more than was offered.
Maybe Prince did look at this site in the past, but after all the moaning from the minority who kept on and on and on, i bet he thought F**k you, and this is what you get.

herb4...I commend you on stating your feelings in such a positive manner.

Everyone who has looked forward to the 2003 edition of the NPGMC is disappointed right now. Many are looking to theories as to why the club section is gone. The truth is, nobody but those directly inside the organization knows. Hopefully, we will too, sooner than later.

I am not greedy. I never felt "intitled" to anything more than what I saw advertised. I never suggested the Club should close, that I was considering reporting them, or, believe it or not, that I felt ripped off.

I am certainly not lamenting (nor crying about) the abscence of the Club right now, and had no plans to rejoin. I really don't believe it had anything to do with me, but IF IT DID, and I somehow fucked up your show, I am truly apologetic.

At least I can stand up and show myself. That, and I took more time to answer your post than the Club EVER took to address ANYTHING I asked them.

maybe retail is the best way, we can all pick and choose what we want to buy.
I feel we should all look at what we wanted from the club and yes the first years was the best, with downloads.
but that was the problem, we got more in the first year than the last one, (music wise).
As the years go on some members thought they should have more each year for the same money.
Time to put it all behind us and hang on to are cash and walt for the next release.

The closest I ever felt to feeling "ripped off" was when I realized that "4 cd's" was meant ot be interpreted as literally as it was. (4 cd's, not 4 albums)

Herb, only one of your actions annoys me. The apology, when none is required. Not only was your original post perfectly reasonable, but more importantly, it is valid for a great many members.

Don't lower yourself to the levels of the childish mud slinging famatics who are getting out of their pram because Prince hasn't given them any more candy.

But who the hell do you think you are, to critise others when:

1. Many people have not got their "before retail" box set yet, after the membership has expired.

2. Some people joined based on the program advert, clearly stating four seperate albums.

3. The NPG lawyer apologised in the BBB response concerning the misleading wording (whether it was their intention or not, is not the issue).

4. You have absolutely no proof the club has shut down, took any attention to the complaints, and, more specifically, were even bothered about Herbs polite request for information.


If anyone did not recieve the products or service they were promised or contracted, they have a right to a response, whether you like it or not.

Its famatical defences like yours, and many others who take the "I got mine, so what the fucks your problem" that is fueling the lack of customer service from the club.

Shall we take your angle to an extreme? Saddam is a great leader. The majority of his people are very happy. Sod the people being killed. They should shut the fuck up and not ruin for the happy ones.

Do you get some false satisfaction of being in a *club* for the several months of nothingness between releases?

Prince will release a CD(s) this year. Who knows, he may even tour and do the Celebration too. And when the time comes, there will be ample opportunity to run and buy everything you can.

i do think the bitching here got a bit out of hand back toward the end of 2002 when it started to look like the set would be in stores before it reached members and still no word from NPGMC. then again, people felt slighted by the NPGMC's refusal to inform members of what to expect.

You missed a very important fact out. The original mails stated "xclusive". Go look up the meaning (or read Nates very in depth thread).

Also, many members did not join like you or I in Feb 2002. They joined after the concerts, based on the advert for 4 seperate albums.

Can I ask you what you think of the members who joined based on the advert?

While we are on the point, can I ask you why you think NPGMC lawyers apologised for the wording, after the BBB complaints?
