I'm beginning to think that Prince is brain damaged.

And that's why? | |

Another example of the incredible marketing as conducted
by the Prince-camp. Release the first ever live-set and put the www.npgmc.com link in there. Furthermore promote the club to death on the ONA tour and then, as if by magic, the whole thing is brought to a grinding hault and the site appears to be no more than a link to a retail-branch. Looking more bleak and deserted than it has ever done since it's first inception in, what, 1997? The club is a cool initiatif, but it's just being run very poorly. And it's incredible how they can't seem to get things right. It's been two years now, so they should have some clue now as to how it works and what exactly is needed to accomplish a well-oiled npgmc. Only thing I can think of now as to why the whole thing might be deserted at the moment is that perhaps they're working hard to design a new lay-out for the site and get a good solid frame structure [package] which they can use to promote the club. Something more materialised than just the names of four *possible* albums which are merely *ideas*, since folks got pretty upset about that last year. So let's give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a while to see what they'll come up with. Who knows, perhaps they're taking all the info they've acquired in the first two years and put that to good use and create a smooth ride for 2003. Yeah, I know. But miracles do happen once every so often. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

If the NPGMC was a kick-a$$ website with useful information, I'd probably care about what they were planning to do with it. But, unfortunately, it's not useful at all in terms of real information. We know more about what goes on with Prince by coming to Prince.org than anywhere else.
Yeah, I know there's a lot of speculation on here. But there's also a lot good and useful information too. I mean, why don't we know directly from Prince that Sign O The Times is being released on DVD??? Yeah, I know he doesn't own it, but surely Prince MUST know that a DVD of such a classic and legendary show is something that his fans would want to have. So even if he doesn't sell it, he would be wise to at least be the first to let his fans know it's available. The NPGMC should be the first and last stop for any and all things related to Prince, NOT an independent unofficial fansite like Prince.org. And don't get me wrong, I love Prince.org and I'm glad we have it. But to me, it's a shame that Prince makes so little use of his own website that the fans are forced to go somewhere "unofficial" to get "official" information regarding Prince. So to me, the list of uselessness for the NPGMC just goes on and on. Besides, one thing is for sure, and that is that when Prince releases new music we will all be able to get that music one way or another. So if selling his new music is through the NPGMC is all he wants to do, then that's fine with me. But as far as any other use for the NPGMC is concerned, if the past few years is any indication of the future for that website, it's totally useless to a fan. "You've got to believe in something... why not believe in me?"

When Prince is through counting all of his money from this past year, and decides how much more he needs to make for 2003, (or what albums NOT to release) it'll be back.

I just don't understand why they would shut everything down DURING a major push in promoting the club (Leno, Vegas, ONA-L!)... I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it

Maybe we should just wait awhile, but it's funny it didn't take him long to put the retail back up.

In my opinion, simply Prince has not decided yet what he wants to do. I always felt that releasing, or rather deciding what to release, to the public in one form or another has always been a sort of painful process for him.
