NPGMC Retail.........You warned me!

Okay here I sit, a FORMER Year one member, and skeptical NPGMC purchaser.

To many of you have had problems with the club not send you your order. Weather it be a whole order or partial order. I must admit that before I made my purchase, I was kind of nervous, with all the negativity about NPGMC Retail. But I figured it's just Prince fans being negative again.

WRONG! I ordered 2 Days of Wild CDs from the club two weeks ago. On Saturday I recieved 1. according to the packing slip there were two in the package. But I only recieved 1.

So I emailed NPG Records and called them (they were not open).

What do you think the odds are they they will fix this?

I think that the odds that it will be fixed are good... I sit here today with the ONAL boxset in my lap (jammin' on Alphabet Street!), altho my initial shipment was probably stolen off of my porch in late November.

The new folks handling things seem intent on customer service if you ask me (the Archway people). So be patient let them know the scoop, and good luck!

Well, at least you got SOMETHING. NPGMC still insists my box set was shipped on Dec. 10 and have not promised anything. I haven't dealt with NPGMC retail much before. I only received the ONA CD in the mail last May. But needless to say, I'm not going to be ordering anything from them in the future. Music duties are also a killer, plus the excessive shipping cost (US$15). The days of wild CD would have cost me US$20 (about $35 Canadian), not including any duties.

Yes, I'm bitter. But at least I feel no guilt about downloading music now. =)

FYI, someone put Days of Wild (Live Montreal) available for download on WinMX. I don't understand why someone would pay $20 for the song and then make it free for everyone else. Strange...

My friend,

UPS dropped off my ONAL package yesterday! And, of course, I am now trippin' off the music, tryin' to disect it all. I was surprised at the responsiveness of NPGMC myself, especially considering all the bad press, but give them a chance... and a little civility may go a long way!

Peace

Civility Schmimility! (What did I say?)

I've been trying polite, patient e-mails for the past two months. The time for civility is past. I'm trying the harrassment approach that others have used to get their box sets. That hasn't worked for me either. So, what's next to try?

Maybe I'll send nonsense e-mails to them next. See if that scares them into sending me my package.

"Rabbits, NPGMC! Where are the rabbits?? Who goes hop that doesn't deserve rabbits? My famname is geminito! Thank you."

I'm skeptical about this approach, but it sure is fun!

Well. I signed up for Prince's magazine in 95, got like 2 issues, then never hear from them again, no refund.

I bought the NPG jersey from newfunk like 5 years ago, and several months later after numerous complaints they finally send me a piece of crap that didn't even resemble the one advertised.

Then I ordered The Crystal Ball, and once again it was like a 9 or 10 month fiasco. I never got the CD. Thank god they didn't bill me, but after months of anticipation I found out they basically lost my order. Nice job!

I skipped NPGMC year 1 because of this. Year 2 I finally decided to give it another shot, hoping Prince actually hired new people and ironed out the wrinkles.

Then I meet all kinds of people at the concert in front of me who were not members and didn't have to spend the extra 100 dollars like I did. That was it.

I guess along as people keep falling for this bull, nothing's going to change.

I've never had a problem with NPGMC Retail (or 1-800-New-Funk before). Everything I've ever ordered has come on time and in excellent condition.

I ordered Goldnigga cd, 2Gether cd single, and the MPLS cd single. I got the first two but never got the MPLS cd. My invoice said it was on back order and would be sent out. I never got it or a refund. They kept my money.

I spent all day on the phone trying to get thru to pre order "The Truth" album. Then they cancelled all pre orders.

I ordered Crystal Ball, it took 10 months for me to recieve it, I got it 6 weeks after it was on the shelf at all my local stores (and for much cheaper). Prince posted on his web site the whole time about how it was almost here, almost done, putting the finishing touches, cd's being pressed right now, cd's sitting in a box ready to go out, ohhh sorry we're working on a distribution deal for this set so we have to hold off releasing it till then. (!!!)

I ordered the Beautiful Strange video and the Come On cd maxi-single. Got the CD single, but no video. paid shipping for both. I called many many times, was told that the first group of videos was mailed out, but they were waiting for another supply to come in. Then they said that the release date was pushed back, then weeks later, people I knew online had gotten thier copies and when I called Newfunk, they told me that prince was holding up the release because he was adding new material to the video (I told the operator that I knew this to be flat out untrue, she insisted it was true). I posted this on AMP, and got an email from newfunk saying this was not true and wanted to know which operator I spoke to (which I did not know). I got many post cards from Gage marketing about when i should expect to receive the video "no later than", I finally told them to shove it and cancel my order. The only time I got my money back from them.

I would probably never order from them again, unless I really really wanted something, and knew it was alreay being sent out.
