NPGMC postage rip-off ??

Ive been waiting for the 2003 calendar to come back in stock and a few days ago - wahey ! there it was. But after I went through the usual ordering process, I found that a $20 calendar was gonna cost $15.00 extra to post !! $35 - Mais non my little friend - this is one item I will have to do without !

Considering it was surface mail and not FedEx I thought this was a tad OTT.

Is this the usual charge for NPGMC items or are we being made to pay for P's newly rediscovered popularity??

Anyone??

It probably has something to do with you being in the UK. The cost of shipping and handling is only $6.50, here in the States. Which makes the total to be $26.50. At least that's what I paid for mine. Haven't received it yet though.

I am an expert in the shipping industry and there is a matter of duties and txes for merchandise that is sold in the US and shipped to the UK. NPGMC probably had to cover these costs as well as freight. Move to the US and save.

I think that NPGMC is ripping us off with the shipping. When I ordered DOW single, it cost me $15 to ship and took nearly two weeks to get here. If I order a single from Amazon.com it costs $5.98 and is here within a week.

I order dozens of DVD's online from Canada and Australia the Canadian ones are free shipping and get here in about 10 days. The Aussie ones cost about $2.6US and arrive in 3-4 days from the other side of the world. I order most of my CD's from a place in Hong Kong and they arrive in 2-3 days with free shiping.

There is no justification in the $15 charge.

This makes me aware of two things:

1 - At least P & Co are including the export/import duties so that I dont receive a card from the Post Office telling me my goods are avilable for collection from Customs at a fee c£15.00.

2 - It must have cost them a fortune to post the ONA box set which was FedExed to each NPGMC member all over the world. And yet people still bitch about the membership fee.

Its a shame as the issue of postage costs for retail goods is the only aspect where the NPGMC ideal falls down. Its neither the fault of the US/UK customs regulations but prevents people (such as my good self) getting my grubby mitts on merchandise which would look so sooo cool above my desk at work. NPGMC need to implement a distribution network whereby everything isnt sent from Minnesota.

I'm just gonna go and sulk alone. Without my calendar.

You do realize that Amazon.com is one of the biggest shippers in the world and have made special deals with all the shippers because they are dying to deal with Amazons' bulk while at the same time NPGMC ships next to nothing so they don't get any deals?

Well that's fair enough, but what about the other examples? I could also list many more, I order plenty from the US and have never had such a high charge as NPGMC.

The only saving grace is that they have so little that I actually want to order, the occasional $15 isn't too harsh. If they start regularly selling CD's at an extra $15 a pop, then that would be really bad.

It realy is too expensive!
I usually pay much less for shipping ang I get my orders much faster shipped.

NPG charged my credit card on 27.12.2002 for the calendar I ordered on 26.12. and they shipped it on 08.01.2003 - so thez need 10 days to bring it to the post office!!!
But I still do not have the calendar!!!
Still waiting!
Again

Where does it say that the NPGMC pays the (medieval and evil) taxes and import duties for my order(s)?
Moving to the US? No way!

What are the expriences with larger, international orders ($40 and up?) and import taxes and stuff?

No such thing as free shipping. Shipping is built into the price, but advertised as 'free'.

$15 for shipping & handling. So, around $5 for shipping, but $10 for the piece of card stiffener they put inside the envelope!

I'm not really complaining, I'll buy the things anyway no matter how much the shipping will be!! nuts But my point with this post is:

I ordered TWO ONA calendars, I had to pay 35$ in postage (I live in Denmark), and when my calendars finaly arrieved, the NPGMC had only paid $12 for the postage.. so they just earned an extra 20$... disbelief

They do?
From what can we conclude that?

candlelight

Being the Canadian I am, the charge to my credit card was $55.00 plus the customs charge of $8.00. Once they shipped it, it only took a week to arrive, but I still don't have any CD's.

I know, move to the States right?
