OUT of CURIOSITY, what ALL was IMPLIED before LOTUSFLOW3r openned? I seem to remember reading about the fact that Prince had recorded every
live performance he's ever performed and that lotusflow3r was going to make us privy to that. I also remember some statement, I believe that Prince himself made??..about the fact that we'd most likely be seeing a jazz album or something like that on the website? Can anyone remember some of the things that were implied or stated which lead us to believe the website would be more substantial that the steaming pile that it was?

What I remember is talk about ten albums worth of unreleased material and the possibility of live streamed performances. I can't find the link but I'm sure that Scott Addison Clay mentioned the above two things while he was hyping the site. I don't remember any talk of a jazz album but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I also remember Scott mentioning hours of live footage that potentially could be on the site.
I don't remember any solid promises of these things happening so technically the site delivered on what it promised (other than downloadable videos) but there were certainly implications made that there would be much more than what we got.

That sounds about right, as for the jazz album I read that it might happen with Anita Baker, but was it was'nt definate.

yes unreleased and/or new audio and video, access to members only presales for concerts, access to news etc...
or according to a previous org thread: http://prince.org/msg/13/333699 Clay and his team were from the marketing firm Cimarron Group, which develops interactive games and such for Hollywood films like “Twilight.” Prince had recruited them to build a platform for his upcoming three-album release. The result, LotusFlow3r.com, resembled a galactic aquarium, featuring doodads like a rotating orb that played videos. The promise: fans who ponied up $77 for a year-long membership would receive the three new albums, plus an ensuing flow of exclusive content, like unreleased tracks and archival videos. A year later, LotusFlow3r has gone dark, thousands of Prince’s fans are very annoyed and Clay has been dismissed from Prince’s kingdom almost as abruptly as he was invited in. A representative for Prince did not respond to request for comment. or: http://www.wired.com/unde...s-dazzlin/ On March 24, the pioneering rock and funk lifer launches LotusFlow3r.com, a Myst-like portal tricked out in Flash animation and 3-D modeling that will serve as home base for Prince’s creative output. A membership model that functions along the lines of DavidLynch.com, LotusFlow3r.com provides enhanced access to Prince-generated content for an annual fee of $77. The money pays for forthcoming downloads of his guitar-heavy LotusFlow3r, the funktronic MPLSoUND and Elixer, featuring Prince’s latest babe protege Bria Valente. Throw in some exclusive photos, advances on tickets, streaming video along with unreleased music and Purple loyalists have more than a few reasons to embrace the digital age.
