I think that the downloads are going to return and this past week has been a kind of experiment to see how well they are received.
The CD idea clearly hasn't worked - up until New Years Day I was so pissed of with the NPGMC, you wouldn't believe. However, despite my cynicism that we only got Xpectation because of all the legal goings on, I still think it shows that Prince is finally showing us a little more respect (and realises that you can't have a strong music club if you've got hardly any members).

Monthly downloads would certainly draw me to NPGMC Year 3 (And I never thought that I'd even contemplate joining ever again, this time last week). But I'd like to see more full albums, preferrably of vault material and I'd like to see official artwork available on the site for printing off and using as CD covers.

There's alot of things the club can do to be fantastic. Problem is, they loose interest in doing it once they collect our money.

I think fans should hold off paying them anything until they have the product(s) ready to go and clearly stated.

I think they will return to at least some downloads.

Looks like the graphics are getting a bit of a facelift.

But otherwise I think fans will be in the same boat by the end of the year as they were this year.

Haystack has the right idea! Downloads with "official cover art" - rather than having to find covers elsewhere (although they are generally of a very high standard...)

I would like to see full albums if possible - howsabout some concerts / aftershows?

Guess we will find out soon...

i am still not sure there will be another year of the club...

i for one wouldn't mind the downloads again..i really enjoyed looking forward to something new ev'ry month..

while the downloads might be problematic for some club members, it still seemed to work better than using ups, usps, or fedex to get music to us...

I would prefer a CD over a download any day, just because its nice to have the complete package with photos, liner notes, etc. Not to mention there is a slight loss of sound quality with MP3s.

Many people who signed up last year didn't anticipate the shipment of their CDs would be such a fiasco.

For the sake and sanity of those interested in joining next year, NPGMC probabbly should go back to downloads.

CDs would most certainly work. Case in point, I put that crummy 30 minute piano snorefest in my CD player & there was "music" on it. It's their execution/distribution/misrepresentation that is the problem. If people were told in advance exactly what they're getting & (at least) approximately when they'd be getting it, it'd clear up a lot of confusion & probably satisfy a lot of people who were so critical of the club this year.

I agree with Rio; despite having only a CDR, it was fun looking forward to another month, also because of the movie files that were posted.
