If you want to maintain a Prince site it's most definetely not pointless to debate copyright reform. You are gonnna need it! lol

Well, either P needs to adapt the current reality or we need to be forced into the realm of the lobbyists' ideas.
I do think the first option is most feasible.

I don't think Prince will ever change his position, unfortunately.

That implies we might see a repeat of NPGMC at best...

No, he has been there, done that. Always looking for something "new" you know.
I think either Prince will see the light and start his own sort of itunes store, making all his stuff digitally available at a fair price. Or he thinks, fuck it and doesn't do anything at all. The latter is probably the most likely.

If Prince launches a new website, I'm not joining it. I can't justify doing so, after the Lotusfail mess. disbelief
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I didn't join Lotus but I think it would be a great idea if he put the person/people who watch all the fansites so closely in charge of his new site...they seem to be pretty good at keeping track of things! lol
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

People can claim whatever they want but the only site that has always respected Prince's intellectual property rights the most is the org.

Sorry, but you really need to click on more threads here. The amount of bootleg covers is endless on the org.

Housequake for example was blatantly infringing on his copyrights with all the videos they put up there. He had every right to take that site down and sue the owner for massive copyright infringement.

If it was just about the video forum there would have been no problem. The video forum was already closed for two years before the complete website was shut down. Prince (and/or his people) made up new stuff all the time. One of the 'requests' that I won't forget is that they wanted all avatars with a Prince pic (just 80x80 pics) removed which Aaron even did for a day.

And as for copyright: Remember the pic in the 21 Nights tourbook with the HQ logo? HQ did have permission from the photographer to post them. Prince however never even contacted the photographer.
(Yes, I know. Because others break copyright laws it doesn't mean you can.
biggrin )

Sometimes things are a little bit more complicated than you think at first sight. Since 2004 the Prince camp constantly harrassed HQ.
