KNOWING what you know about PRINCE, could HE...

actually run a successful website?

We know the nickname for lutusflow3r is lotusfailure.com lol, and these sentiments were amplified by the fact that the rhetoric coming from the Prince camp was so hyped and the product so....not.

And every one of Prince's websites have truly sucked complete ass. But l41A.com was pretty close to decent. It had forums, it had a store, it had downloads, and such.

But it doesn't seem like Prince rents the services out. It seems like whoever designs these things are either breifly contracted or they are employees who eventually leave.

Could Prince realistically actually create a decent website?

I know Bowie liked his npgmc.com but Bowie could have been just being polite when he was asked about the website.

What would it take for Prince to have a successful website? I'm talking about simple, measurable, steps and not huge expenditures of energy from Prince the artist. Ultimately he can't be a slave to a website, but certainly it should be a little better than a pile of shit, no?

he might want to just drop all the graphics and have a very basic
site.

all his site really needs is just some pictures and a nice style,
not all that extra stuff.

the site he has now is so graphics heavy and yet it lacks all of
the things that it should have: music, back catalogue, retail,
and a news section. plus a place where you can watch ALL of his
videos.

updated regularly with some new stuff and a concert or two plus
a chance to buy some unreleased stuff once in a while.

it doesn't take a million dollar site to do that. you could do
all of that on a basic site like the org even.

less fluff and more substance, that's the key.

L4OA.com? nah. that came with the whole Crystal Ball fiasco, "Collective" bullshit and a lot of cease & desists as Prince tried to own the entirety of the Internet. It drove a significant number of fans away and was the first red flag that we and he really did need that "middle man" he had been villifying for years.

NPGMC was by far his best presence on the net, simply for the fact that it had a decent amount of content in its various forms over the years. I wasn't a member, but I lived, for a time, with people who were. Looking through what was available over the years in its different incarnations, I'd be much happier with l0tu$f@ilur3.com if there was 5% of the exclusive (or even overall) content that was on the NPGMC at any given point in its history.

I didnt see anything wrong with it either. Prince received critical praise and an 2006 Webby Award for that site. It got memebers in front row seats, free aftershows, and a whole lot of unreleased music and video. Hell, I even bought a white cloud guitar.

true. imagine how many goodies we'd have been able to buy up until this point
if the npgmc had continued every year with that original installment of two
or three songs every month plus all the extra perks and some audio shows etc.

i liked that set up a lot. especially since there was something new on it
every single month. even if it were just 2 songs or so, it was something
to look forward to. no months and months of waiting or no news, just some
nice regular release schedule.

Prince doesnt run websites. Neither does Bowie. Until the less enlightened understand this, they will pollute this forum with their crying over the wrong things.

I don't think anyone believes he's a web designer. But a guy who sues at the mere mention of his name should have at least a say in the content of his own personal website, don't you think?

Actually the npgmusicclub or whatever it was was a decent site. It allowed him to give us news and content and allowed us to hear and purchase that content.

I really don't know how someone who was on the edge of this technology back in the day could have one of the shittiest music sites around.

Aside from really anything, what it lacks the most..news.

Lotusflow3r did carry news at one point. Actually I don't think its that bad of a site. Just not enough content on there.
