FUNK RADIO: Prince - Throw us dogs a bone ...

please.

If you are reticent to unleash the oft-discussed 'classic' bootleg tracks, how about some more 'recent' titles we are familiar with?

'Funk Radio'?
'R U Ready'?
'Prince & the Band'?

'Madrid 2 Chicago' album?

Most of us would not really be that hard to please ... . smile

yeah, if there was one single song that i was expecting to pop up on
the site it was "prince & the band". it's been kicking around for so
long now and it doesn't seem to fit on any album he releases, so it
would have made sense if he'd put it on the site.

at this point, i too, would be happy enough with just about any and
every track he'd put on the site.

something like that "madrid 2 chicago" album would be very sweet nod

but with less than 30 days to go, i'm guessing we won't get anything
at all. they'll probably not even commemorate the 1st aniversary of
the club and just let it pass without any comment or notification.

we can always hope for the best, but it's hard to imagine that site
springing back to life all of a sudden.

either they'r gonna promote year 2 with more dangling carrots just to
get more people to sign up, or there won't be anything and the site
will simply dwindle out even further until everyone's forgotten that
he even has a site.

I'll be interested to see if this new song "Cause and Effect" is put up on the site (or even the radio link advertised for Friday).

Who cares at this point? It's not like a full album would undo the disaster that was this whole experience. Like getting flowers after a beating.

LOL! Exactly. The damage is done. I'll always be a fan of Prince, but as far as his business endeavors go, I'm done doing business with him.

Now if he released a remastered back catalog, with 12" bonus tracks and B-sides, he just may retain my business.(but I'm not holding my breath!)

I hear you guys but I mean it will be mildly interesting to see if Prince's camp still remotely even value the site as an outlet for advertising this track.

The damage may be 'done' for some, but some extra songs or some kind of vault album would certainly sweeten the deal.

I wish he'd put Turn Me Loose up for download, one cool funk diity.

Also someone mentioned Prince And The Band, I believe it was slated for inclusion on the aborted Funk album as was Turn Me Loose.

So hopefully we'll see the other tracks from this album one day.

I think that depends on what the full album was. If he'd release Roadhouse Garden with the following track list I'd piss my pants and give him another $77.

Our Destiny
Roadhouse Garden
Splash
In A LArge Room With No Light
Witness 4 The Prosecution
Everybody Wants What They Don't Got
Adonis and Bathsheeba
Go
Evolsidog
And That Says What
Fat Lady
Come Electra Tuesday
All My Dreams
Something BIG Is Coming.

I've never heard of track 1 or 6-12. Were these songs available as bootlegs? This would be amazing, it's not too late to impress us Prince. We still have a few weeks left yes?

those aren't widely circulating. some people seem to have them, like one
or two mysterious collectors. but the majority of people who have most of
the bootleg stuff haven't heard these at all. a little bit of "go" is in
circulation, as is a rehearsal of it, i think.

I think more than one track 'C & E' needs to be made available to satisfy members.

Though Prince has delivered everything (plus a little more) stated on the sign-up agreement.

I'm genuinely concerned about the backlash if Lotusflow3r does not deliver more before the subscription has ended.

The fallout among Prince's loyal fans could be considerable.

I think the damage is already done. If nothing else substantial is offered now it will just serve to prove the point of what many have been saying for months, that the site was a dead duck almost as soon as it launched.

On the flip-side, any potential new content has already been dismissed as a cynical ploy to placate and tempt another's year's membership.

From a personal POV I am obviously disappointed with what has been offered up as part of the LF membership. I like everything that I have been able to download, stream, listen to and watch but that's cos I do like Prince funnily enough lol

I just feel he does waste the potential of all his sites (that feeling is obviously heightened the more you have to pay). I think he knows by now that we would snap-up, and willingly pay a reasonable price for, everything new, previously unreleased, hard to get stuff from the back catalogue. BUT he either does not have the means to offer this (his unique history, WB etc.) or has no inclination to focus on his musical legacy from a downloadable product perspective. The guy is and always has been an enigma.

i've always felt that he starts out with great ideas for his sites
and plans on releasing a lot of stuff but than the members are not
a large enough number and he possibly just backs out of his plans.

this could quite easily be turned around if he decided exactly what
he wanted to release and promote just that before the site would go
live.

for instance, if he'd have a brand new album, one or two unreleased
albums from the vault and a full concert and an aftershow ready to
go on there, listed in detail and aprox dates for when it would go
up during the year, people would know what they are up for and i'm
convinced that 80% of casual visitors would even sign up if the cost
was not rediculously steep.

the main problem right now is that you never know what you're going
to get and that leaves people disgruntled, even if it might have
been prince's idea from the very start to release only what we see
right now on lotusflower, they should have promoted that and nothing
more or less. that way people could decide if they were ok with that
and if they wanted to pay a certain amount for it.

there'd be no backlash, no frustration and tripple as many happy,
satisfied consumers.

I have been a keen follower of Prince' through the years and read all the above posts with interest.

I have to admit I didn't sign up. Why? Because I signed up for npgmc 2 months before the plug got pulled and received little to nothing for my efforts. Ithought, 'If P starts up a new site I'll wait for the 'reviews' from those who signed up before committing myself. I'm glad I did.

I would love to be hearing what a big mistake I made not signing up. I'd change my mind in a heart beat if the site offered more/ changed more often. But it seems P. lost interest pretty quick. All the bad reviews have put me off joining. I don't blame people being pretty pissed. I know I would be.

I like the idea of having some sort list published informing existing members what is to be added and when. Word would soon get out and people like me might just be enticed to join.

As it stands - not for me. Bearing in mind I've been a fan for 27 yrs I think Prince has failed to capitalise on a durable business model for his collective fans. Missed opportunity ..... thus far
