NPGMC . . . . . if the club worked this way,i think everyone would be happy

1st off,...im not a whinger,cos i am not a NPGMC member 2 begin with . .. . tho when P announces an aussie tour,i will be joining up in a flash!
but here is what i think would work out great:

1: half the cost of joining the club to $50us . . . . .this goes 2wards concert benefits,a quaterly newsletter or some kind of special treat 4 members regularly . . . .any surprises that spring up during the year, discount on Celly tickets, etc . . .

2: Sell all the albums,CD releases & any other stuff like DVD's etc . . . .. thru the Retail section of the NPGMC website . .. . . that way ppl who have trouble downloading albums & such can have these . . . .& may also stop ppl making money off CD-Rs on eBay.com.

3: Sell SB recordings of live shows on the Retail section also . . . .give Members a discount . . .this way everyone can have Soundboard recordings on CD,Prince makes money & perhaps stops ppl making money from bootlegs.

Just a theory of mine . . .but i think something similar 2 this would make everyone happy & also with ppl not having 2 pay $100us str8 up for membership, may help with selling more albums thru teh site,as they will not be scared of getting trapped in2 paying that much when not all albums will appeal 2 them, but they may be passers-by only be interested in one release, yet still with the possibility that they will purchase future releases.
smile

what ya reckon?

But he is a potential member. Surely that's exactly the kind of person Prince should be targeting?

true saxjedi,very true!
but i find the fact that he isnt a member of the club and has got all these ideas for it a little strange.
Why doesnt he join the club next year and then be in a proper position to suggest how Prince runs HIS music club!!

my opinion & suggestion is based on what alot of my friends who r in the club want & what they would like from the club.& also what i feel would be great.
When u spend alotta time here on the Org & talk 2 people everyday who r members,it doesnt take someone in the club or a brainiac 2 know what ppl would like & what may work.

what did u mean by "how's that for an opinion??"
reads a bit sarcastic i say!
i just expressed a view/opinion that didnt put anyone down, that was fair & just trying 2 b helpful & logical.

I think this sounds like a pretty cool idea, but I think it could be a bit better still…

As u said, a lot of potential members might only be interested in some releases and would be unwilling to pay $100 for something they may or may not like. For them, a $50 membership, getting soundcheck admission, a few newsletter/one of download-type xtras and discount on NPGMC retail would be real cool.

But why not run that alongside an improved version of the $100 membership – all CDs (not downloads) and DVDs, soundcheck admission (and maybe first shout on tickets – infront of ‘basic’ members), cheaper celly tickets and cool xtras like newsletters/chat sessions/etc.

I think that would be a pretty good business plan, if only they would try it.

Paying for concert perks is nonsense. A perk or a benefit is an extra that comes with the membership, so newsletters should be free as well. And special treatment always, since you are a paying member right?

You suggest I pay for services that are completely natural free of charge.

Agreed. I suggest that any release is made avalaible on cd as well as on mp3. And that they offer concert recordings to choose from, e.g the concert you went to, for free, but other concerts for a fee.

3: Sell SB recordings of live shows on the Retail section also . . . .give Members a discount . . .this way everyone can have Soundboard recordings on CD,Prince makes money & perhaps stops ppl making money from bootlegs.

Perhabs he should do "pay for one recording, get 2".

& also with ppl not having 2 pay $100us str8 up for membership, may help with selling more albums thru teh site,as they will not be scared of getting trapped in2 paying that much when not all albums will appeal 2 them, but they may be passers-by only be interested in one release, yet still with the possibility that they will purchase future releases.

I reckon your last argument holds a lot, but you have to rephrase it a bit.

If Prince would also offer his stuff outside the idea of a year long membership the people who are not so eager to pay up 100$ in advance (and there are loads of those) would still have an oppurtunity to purchase. If the price is reasonable of course, which they aren't at npgmc retail.

So forget about it. They are going to continue ripping people off with ridiculous prices.
