When LotusFlow3r.com was announced, I had just been reduced to 20 hours a week a few weeks prior. I was on the fence about joining, but I still had good savings in the bank and didn't want to lose out on any good music. It was my treat to myself.

Now we're about 9 months in and that same $77 is just not as expendable as it was in March 2009, especially for minimal returns.

The only redeeming factor for me would be if (a big if) he really did release some members-only music before it's time to renew to justify that $77.

Many folks are just changing their credit card info to all zeros so no further charges can be made, ie: 0000-0000-0000-0000
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

There is nothing that would make me renew my membership to the site.

falloff They really think the merchant account processor...the people who process financial transactions for websites...has to go to their Lotusuflow3r.com accounts to get their cc numbers to renew their subscriptions? eek

Oh yes, I think this will definitely be me in March:

I'm pretty sure when you change your CC information on the website, it's updated on whatever service/database is used for renewing memberships. They'll always use the latest one on record.

You can always dispute the charges with your CC company anyway.

Well, I tried the all Zeros method and it wasn't letting me do that -- but luckily, I didn't have to -- the debit card I used in March isn't valid anymore! So they literally have no way of auto-renewing me. (sigh of relief)

I will sign on for year two.

It has been a hard year in so many ways..... personally, economically, and yeah, my favorite site on the web (the HQ collectors forum) shut down sad .

Lotusflow3r as it stands is slow, and low on new content. There is nothing I could say now that hasn`t been said here a thousand times before more eloquently or emphatically by others.

But.....
there were those Montreux videos. They really did make my year musically. I never believed I would hear "when I lay my hands on U" live, or a version of "little red corvette" that was enjoyable , engaging and surprising 25 odd years after it was released. (and no, I found it on you tube before it was posted on the lotusfow3r site like everybody else did)
I honestly hope that whatever 2010 brings it will be better than 09, but like a cuckold going back to his "do wrong" woman i am in it for the long haul, and, like Little Richard said," a little bit of something beats a whole lot of nothing."
Please dont judge me too harshly lol

I'll say it now, 3 months before the end of year 1:
Either there won't be a "year 2" at all, because the site will be closed in March/April. Prince would probably say that the site was meant to promote an album which is done now. If he's going to comment on it at all.
Or they'll go for a second year, with almost nobody signing up, and close the site around May/June/July, with no content added the last 3 or 4 month. Believe me, LF always was a dead born baby, and it sure isn't going to see xmas 2010.

Maybe. But are any of those people still around? Given Prince's usual history, he probably stopped paying any of them about three months after the site launched, so I would guess they all left.

(Their work was never amazing, imo...the site was designed to be a passive-aggressive nightmare. biggrin)

It's true. That site never, ever worked right. And it was amazing how even the simplest things were done wrong. They must've worked extra hard to fuck up every single little thing associated with lf.com.
