It seems that the site is back up with no mention of the "Member's Section" or any way to sign up or anything about the "club"...just items you can buy through NPG Retail. I wonder if the free downloads recently were a way to let us down easily if the club is no more?

I hope it continues, but it doesn't look good at this point. It seems like we would have heard something if it was going to continue. Although maybe Prince isn't sure what form it will continue in, and he's not saying anything until he makes up his mind? I guess time will tell.

oh well, at least we got RETAIL...

I think NPGMC will return - no reason to can it? It adds to his profile, makes him $, makes his die hard fans pretty happy etc...

Yes, he probably does need a break, especially as he gets older. But he still has "grooves and grooves up on the shelf" in the Vault, so there' sno reason no to still have the club open. But he is picky about what he releases and maybe this stuff seems too "old" for him to share with us.

Anyway, I hope the club continues and maybe it will.

I think it's more of changing ISPs, moving the database, trying to get everything up and running like it was before on a new server -- those type of technical problems that Prince and company have no control over that's the problem.

I do think it comes at a bad time, but I'm sure we'll get an e-mail about what the next year of the club will provide soon. He's not too out of it to know you have to stike while the fire is hot.

Year 2 started on February 15, 2002. Just enjoy the new music released within the last month and see what happens in February 2003.

He probably just needs a break from all the bitching & moaning we like to do here. Some of it was deserved & some of it wasn't.
I think it's a good idea for him to just take a break & regroup, fire bad people, hire good people, & come back with a good, strong game plan for '04.
