I asked NPGMC about the downloads, cuz I still wasn't sure about where and why and, well U know the rest. here is their response

I am a little confused. but there have been many downloads from the
NPg that have surfaced at many unofficial sites. and many fans
claim 2 have gotten those, xpectation, and empty room. they are
entitled as such names as Osaka, or Copenhagen, Tokyo, or Nagoya.
I am curious as 2 the club's reason 4 doing this(giving downloads 2
some and not others). if U could provide me with any in4mation, it
would B apprecieated.

please people don't start complaining to them about this too. They know we are all gonna share with each other in the club anyway...this way those areas which it seems the songs were written for or performed at get first access and therefore quicker download speed. It's a good thing...we all get the same shit in the end. Everybody just relax and don't email unless to say thank you. They are giving us extra free shit. Hellooo!

I'm not even a member anymore, and I got all the songs the day AFTER they were released.

My guess -- and it's PURE SPECULATION -- is that those 4 tracks (Tokyo, Copenhagen, Nagoya, Osaka) were just a sneak region-specific peek at a new album that will be released through the club in 2003. Which means there will be a whole new opportunity this year for people to complain that he's releasing tracks that have already been released.

Perhaps all the tracks will be city names inspired by and composed during his recent tour.

Although the more realistic explanation is that this is just more head games from the NPGMC.

The email I got from them said not to "share these YET", hinting at the possibility of their status changing later.

I never got an e-mail for Empty Room,but I did get it for Xpectation on New Year's . But luckily I heard the songs and I think they are very Good. Why we all haven't gotten e-mails or why some got this or that is kinda ridiculous as I do believe we should all be able to have the same thing. Dig this if we Indeed are all Equal and Human which I do Believe is the case then why oh why does this person have to feel slighted or feel Jealous Praytell cause Europeans got this and Americans something else? I'll never understand why Prince does certain shows here yet other shows Overseas. We Americans wanna see the Same songs that he did in Europe. Just like when he did Sign O the Times and we got the movie or The Nude Tour and what?? Will never understand why or does he just not realize that we feel a Dissention. I'm definitely advocating him to give us all the same tours and Music. So as not to have Jealousy and Complaining and Fighting and Hoardingness amongst fans. Prince why don't you understand this yet or do you just figure we will trade amongst each other anyway? I don't get it .. Will I ever Understand Him??? Will he ever let Us??? Don't know about that as he likes the Cloak and Dagger...He just doesn't realize how many fans he has lost because of alot of Games . It's really a shame. I don't think anybody should leave him because of not getting into a Member's Only Event or VIP thing. It's Foolish!

Do they really need to email you and tell you what the links to the downloads are when the information is readily available?

It seems to have been done for fun, not to mention ease the burden on their servers.

I agree with this in one aspect. They do know members will spread the word about the files. However, it is very divisive to do this. Especially when some members were sent 4 file links (Osaka, Copenhagen, etc) and others were sent only one (Empty Room).

But me being the cynic that I am, they might be trying to weed out the people who immediately throw the files on Kazaa, etc.

The Australian NPGMC Members got all five links in one single email. I think that tells us whether we can share them with other members or not.

considering Aussies got no concerts, 4 links to songs seems fair. besides, Prince does know (as someone said before) that people are going to share the links. he asked politely for us not to but this is the world we live in. And considering all the songs and Xpectation are already being sold on ebay, I am AMAZED he even bothers giving us music at all.

Thanks for letting me know about these links. I wasn't aware of the existence of these soundchecks. Right now I'm a happy chappy! New music to download again!

Just like Prince always does...creating a bit of chaos thru the media. In the end the music always reaches the fans...

Last week - I was over the moon to get X and W.R - Now I have downloaded the rest of the soundchecks.

You needed your password to recieve them - It would be blocked if they didnt want us to have them.
It only matters if you share with non members.

Think of all that you have recieved as a member-
think about how curious you would be if you were not.

But then think about the members who aren't sad enough to troll around on discussion forums all day like us. They will never know!
