BUttoX to the NPGMC Lawyers

Sent this to the lawyers after reading Mediadarling's latest news update.

***
Dear NPGMC Lawyer,

I received a note from a fellow member of the New Power Generation Music CLub (NPGMC) suggesting I contact you in regards to my complaint about membership to the NPGMC. I have recently read your response to a number of complaints already filed and find it flawed and unacceptable.

The following is taken directly from the NPGMC website homepage and is located under the heading 'About The Club'. It is a message designed to inform potential consumers on the membership benefits of the club. On the same homepage, an adjacent link leads to a form for members to pay $100 and receive the following advertised benefits:

By joining the NPG Music Club, U will b given access 2 an xclusive array of xperiences from PRINCE & The New Power Generation, including new unreleased Prince CDs, live events, special merchandise items, concert deals, and much more.

In my case I was aware I would be unable to access the majority of these benefits. Nevertheless I felt that access to exclusive music, as stated in the blurb, was worth the price of membership regardless of other included benefits. The use of the word 'exclusive' in the context of joining a club can only refer to benefits reserved for club members. Moreover your letter makes this clear as you concede that other of the listed benefits were specifically designed to operate as members only services. You state: "NPGMC members were the only ones who were entitled to confirmed tickets for the seven night Xenophobia concert celebration." Furthermore, as you concede : "in 2001, members received access to 12 monthly downloads of songs" . This access was received only by club members and constitutes the sort of exlusive music the 2002 advertisement mentions. This forms a solid and irrefutable link between the benefits advertised in 2002 and the club's practices in 2001.

However, the music that I have received so far will be available for the general public at a price much lower than $100. Not only is this in direct contravention of the advertised promise of exclusivity but also nullifys any benefit of membership for any member like myself seeking only one of the products advertised and having them effectively pay more than the market price without receiving any additional benefit. For this reason I would like to request a refund equal to the difference between the general public price of the music I have recieved and the $100 that I paid for exclusive access to music from the NPGMC music club.

Sincerely yours,

Buttox

My letter was posted only for informational purposes, not to suggest that you write directly to their lawyers. I suggest that you communicate your concerns through the BBB. The more people who complain to them, the harder it will be for the NPGMC to deny any wrongdoing.

it never said "exclusive music", it said "unreleased music". Which is what we got. WE GOT MUSIC THAT WAS NOT RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC YET. Take it or leave it your fighting a loosing battle.

I for one am not upset. I joined NPGmusic club late in the year, got 5 free cd's plus down loads. Yes, I paid 250 dollars to go to paisley park to see 7 acts including PRINCE himself every night. The experience was unbelieveable!!! sheila e, larry graham, eric leads, and others gave us great seminars on their experiences and life in general. There is no way that I would have been able to get, and do all of this without the NPGmusic club. I enjoy the posts, the pictures and the news that comes from being a member. Not to mention that we found out about Prince playing all the around the world first. And could buy tickets 2 days in advance.

So quite whining, crying, moaning and get a life!!!

I have been a prince fam since I was 9 years old. What other artist is doing this for the fams? Give the brother a break.

and believe me I don't work for NPG music club, wish I did though.
