that's what I was thinking. I was checking my email all week to see if there was going to be any ticket giveaways. Sadly... no. Oh well. DVR is in action!

So what does that mean that only industry bigwigs will be the only ones able to attend? I think it just means that being Leno's last show, tickets were probably distributed months in advance. I'm sure most people at the show tonight planned well ahead of time to be there for Jay's last show. Besides, with Prince being there to honor Jay, it would be in bad taste to say, "Hey Jay, can I set some tix aside for my fans?" _ [Edited 5/28/09 12:32pm] "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

Didn't know where this should go. But here are some comments of a dear friend of mines that went to last nights show. Just wish I was there.
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno comes to an end and Prince helps Jay go out with a touch of ultimate class. Now that I have had a chance to rest and catch a wink or two of sleep I can reflect on the performance and give y'all my thoughts on it. It also helps that I watched it when it aired so I could catch that which I missed while I was standing in awe as well as feeling the results of no sleep in 24 hours+. Can I just start by saying, I love Prince. Seriously. I have such a tremendous amount of respect and admiration as well as appreciation for this man and magnificent musician. The performance was high class. The set itself was something else - Jazz club/bar scene complete with an upright piano (Renato), keyboards behind the bar (Morris), upright bass (Rhonda Smith), drums (John Blackwell, Jr.), and horns, including Greg Boyer on the trombone. I have a feeling I'm forgetting someone... Oh right! Prince on smooth falsetto vocals that give u chills. This brutha... I mean, really! And no, we won't forget Bria Valente who was looking quite prettified sitting at the bar. (We need to start chanting, "Bria! Get on the mic!" And maybe we can hear her do her thing live soon.) We had a long night and day leading up to the show and performance itself. So some of us came away feeling like the single song performance of "Somewhere Here On Earth" just wasn't enough. Prince fans, u all know that we always walk away with a bit of that feeling. And this time we knew that one song was a very good possibility but he threw us all off with "Somewhere Here On Earth." We all expected something more like an upbeat medley of hits (new and old) or a one song deal that was an upbeat pick. So the initial "shock" was a little different to those of us who were running on fumes (no sleep and very little food). I have to say, however, after reviewing the performance on TV tonight (twice thus far), it was pretty tight. U have to stop and take a look at the whole picture. How else would he want Jay to go out but with class? He could have played Little Red Corvette for the millionth time or even broke out Dance 4 Me from the new joint but I can completely see why the choice was made to do a jazzy ballad. And YES we all know that he could have picked from the ballads on Lotus Flow3r and MPLSound. But he didn't. He also could have played Adore or even hit him with "Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do" since the content of the song would seem to be more fitting for Jay on a personal level. But, again, he didn't. Those songs both are considerations from his massive back catelogue of material. And for some reason we walked away with the idea that it would have been alright for him to play any of the "hits" from the past (namely the 80s and 90s) but for him to choose a song from an album only 2 years old wasn't alright. This, in hindsight, makes no sense and is actually ridiculous. I'm pretty sure we were all delirious at this point and that is what I blame (personally) for the unreasonable reviews we spit out with a quickness that was too fast for Speedy Gonzales himself. Prince knows how to carry himself with class and he definitely knows how to perform with class. I still don't know why he didn't speak either in place of the big note he wrote to Jay or add a word or 2 along with it, but that's neither here nor there. "Jay is the best ever, even Paul Schafer knows." Much Love 2 Prince for the many performances he's shared with us on Jay's show. AND Much Love 2 Jay Leno for 17 years of good times on the Tonight Show. Audios of current articles --- www.jw.org

k, my thoughts on the show. loved it. jay n prince, have been pranking eachother 4 yrs. at 1 point, prince had leno's chair removed from the set "2 b repaired", all poking fun at jay, cuz apparently, he loves his chair. so, the next time prince showed up 4 a taping of a leno show, he was stopped at the gate, n the security guard wanted prince 2 produce i.d., all the while b-ing filmed 2 show the audience later.
last nite's show. leno, had his economy bit saying that prince was wearing something "off the rack" cuz the economy was so bad, lol, not a dig. he did do a dig 2 mj, and pretty much told every1 go ahead, complain, i won't b here 2 hear it. later, after prince's performance of somewhere on earth, he handed jay the sheet of paper, after pausing it, SEVERAL times, as it kept flopping around, n the writting was poor, (sorry p). it said jay is the best paul schaefer knows, schaefer b-ing letterman's musician. definately a dig 4 jay 2 letterman. now, i don't no if jackson and prince actually have anything against 1 another, but, it has always been shown that way in the media. i have my own opinion, but, i will keep it 2 myself. there has always been a rivalry b-tween leno n letterman, again, according 2 the press. which seems reasonable, they r competing in the same time slot, with same kind of shows. so... i think, n of course, this is my opinion only, that jay n prince r actually friends. they both have that love of cars, n r obviously comfortable enuff 2 play pranks on eachother. n leno has said, on n off the show, that he actually is a big prince fan. now, i haven't bought lotusflow3r, n m not subscribed 2 the site yet (yeah, the economy sux here in canada 2), but, i'm 1dering if it's possible that prince played somewhere on earth specifically 4 jay. mayb it's 1 of his favorites?? either way, he was beautiful (altho, makeup could have been a little lighter on the lids, lol, he gets teased enuff as it is, was just a little much) n the song, altho not one of my favs, was done 1derfully. thx 4 reading my piece, drop me a note, if ya want, kinda nu around here. sin
