Don't be mistaken: I bet he spends a ton of money on dumb shit. Here's a guy who records entire albums for whatever bimbo is in his favor this month and then shelves it. A guy who makes videos to pass the time. In the end, all that studio time and all those musicians etc still need to be paid, ditto his staff etc. He rents a villa in LA: can't be cheap. It all adds up fast. Yes, there's a steady stream of income from royalties, but I bet that is a lot less than at it used to be. daPrettyman said: Besides, nobody knows what material in The Vault is owned by WB. I'm sure there are songs/albums that have were submitted to WB and never got released. We don't know what the conditions of his contract were between 1978 and 1985. There is a reason why Crystal Ball covered the years 1985 to 1997.
So? Is he gonna wait until he gets back those rights and his collection is worth a fraction of what it once was? Why not COLLABORATE with WB and strike a deal? Look at the special editions Pearl Jam just released of "Ten". Sure, I bet there's a bunch of audio rips on torrent sites, but those still can't replace the actual object. Getting that awesome vinyl copy of Wendy & Lisa's latest record was a fantastic experience for me. And you can bet I'm gonna go buy the Jane's Addiction box set. Prince needs to realize that music on a physical carrier is dying, but that there's still money to be made by PLEASING YOUR FANS. A while ago I LMAO at Josh Freese's idiotic packages : http://bit.ly/29xTW . But as it turned out, they weren't jokes and he is doing as promised and actually goes beyond the minimum: http://bit.ly/idGQW . Do I think the one fan who spent $20,000 is nuts? Sure, but at the same time I realise that kid is having the time of his life, and by the looks of it he is a genuine fan, not some rich idiot who buys a butt-ugly "limited edition" book + iPod as an investment. Imagine that Prince would a) stop releasing mediocre records and b) start up an "Archives" program where you could buy remastered versions of his classic 1980s records, including bonus racks (extended versions and B-sides and outtakes), on a multitude of formats: cheap downloads, affordable "regular" releases, pricey deluxe editions, vinyl, super duper deluxe editions,... But he needs to do this NOW, because he's losing fans by the truckload. I totally understand that Prince has studio time. You must remember, Prince doesn't really log studio time anymore. He owns his own equipment and records at his own facilities. I'm not saying that Prince is not a spend-thrift. Looking at the Paisley Park archive photos, he has spent a LOT of money on frivolous stuff with a "" on it. From what I know about royalties, Prince should get FAT royalty check every 3 months. Remember, Prince makes a LOT more money than the average person who releases an album. He wrote all of the songs on his albums and the writing royalties are far greater than record royalties. Not to mention all of the money he gets for his music being used in movies, television and other forms of media. I'm sure PR alone still makes a SHIT load of money. Also, think about this. Prince hosts all of these parties in Hollywood at his home and different venues. He charges for those. Yeah, it say that proceeds go to charity, but that usually means after all of the bills are paid, the rest of the money goes to charity. I don't know if Prince does it that way, but a lot of people do. So, I don't think he'll ever be broke. I hope he has learned from his mistakes in the past. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Prince's networth is in the 250 million dollar range look it up. Let's just say the 5 million he made off of Coachella and the 3 million off of the Nokia were within a 10 month time span. That's 8 million and then the undisclosed deal with Target plus his website must have made him another 2 million so thats like 10 million in the last year. He can easily afford to pay those musicians, pay 200,000 on his LA villa per month and spend money on dumb shit and still not even come close to being broke.
