Or is it just me, We Paid 77.00 for First Chance at getting the new albums, and Then Most of us Diehard Fans, still went and brought the album from Target also....But nothing Else New Or Exciting on the site, We Have all probably seen all The Videos of Prince..already, But just seems like Progress is moving Kind of slow as far as anything else interesting on the site...but maybe its just me.....

It's not just you..
I think lots of peeps are tired of his "hurry up and wait".
If one more thing comes from this 77.00 venture,I'll be satisfied.

From now on,it's physical cd's or nothing. neutral

Oh come on people, it was a huge success, just think of the donation it accrued for the kingdom hall!!!!

It's boring because there is no interactivity... and of course no new content.

It's just a place for Prince to hawk his goods... he's using the 90s model of the web as a retail outlet... not the web 2.0 idea of social interaction, community building, and user-generated content. As a result the site is a bit of a dinosaur.

I agree my sister saw this site and said that it reminds her of the old interactive cd he released in the 90's she said this is the type of stuff that came out when the internet was just up and coming.

personally I wish Prince would go back to this song and remember what he thought of social interaction.

"Welcome, U've got mail" {AOL sample}

(Computer) {sample repeats in BG}
It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

CHORUS:
I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright
I scan my computer looking 4 a site

Make believe it's a better world, a better life

Nothing on TV I ain't seen before
Another murder on the news, I can't take no more
Evil Incorporated, blowing up bombs and thangs
I have a child, huh, I have a lot 2 explain
I could write a letter, but who would I send it 2?
It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

CHORUS

I called an old friend of mine just the other day
No congratulations, no respect paid
All she did was wonder if the rumors were true
I said - "No, I ain't dead yet, but uh.. what about U?"
I can count my friends with a peace sign: 1, 2
It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright (Oh)
I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Make believe it's a better world, a better life (A better life)

I got no mail, my computer

I told them I don't wanna see a doctor unless he's lonely 2
Every Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do I..

I scan my computer looking 4 a site
Somebody 2 talk 2, funny and bright
I scan my computer looking 4 a site

just my 2 cents, but maybe prince is pissed that everything from lotusflow3r has found its way onto the web.Inevitable, but pretty annoying for him perhaps. I joined btw.

I ove both P albums but why oh why does the promotion fall flat so damn quick. Still no sensible price/ any real profile of the album here in te Uk, what a wasted opportunity...again...!

This is the reality that he will always face. How about doing something so exciting and exclusive with the site that it really won't matter if the album leaked on line?

agree totally. Needs a real shocker of a surprise....exclusive stream of live event would be great. imagine the hype created! Ok, might get on the web but to witness in real time would be awesome!

And how about this:

When the initial tracks were previewed on radio, an announcement to visit Lotusflow3r.com to join membership and download the entire new album "lotusflower". It would have cut all the leaking and membership would have been very high as even I, a "hater", loved those new tracks.

Someone who isn't in the business can create a better business model. Prince should be able to at this point in his career.

Well maybe we could give him ideas about what we want to see on a site we paid 77.00 bucks for. I'll Start :)

Prince I would love it if:

you put practice footage on the vids
rare interviews done by you and band members (past and present)
weekly blog tell us what your doing and thinking about
new songs (unreleased)
back stage vids
tour of the house like Cribs but only your house smile
vids from parties (past and present you can edit so nothing embrassing gets to us smile )
Making the video (music video ) would be great.
Directors cut from your movies
That's all I can think of for now but let's help him out. Instead of complaining lets give him our thoughts about what we want to see on our fan site. See P I told you I have lots of ideas giggles smile

I like that "ideas" idea. and, I'll even stop being snarky... (er... for the moment), to participate. It'd be phat, if the website would offer fan favorites like:

1) A download of Roadhouse Garden (the way it was recorded with the Revolution -- no deletions of Revolution parts -- no revisionist lyrics to reflect 2009 sensibilities)

2) Purple Rain with the deleted scenes (the fight with Jellybean, etc)

3) The BBC documentary that was heavily used during your 1990 American Music Award presentation.

4) Downloads from the vault -- dozens or hundreds of downloads of unreleased material to really put the bootleggers out of business. I've been feenin' for the Shep Pettibone remix of "Dig U Betta Dead." (OK, that was snark. I'm sorry.) But, honestly, stuff like "Vickie Waiting" -- the extended version (what's heard in the casino scene of "Batman")

5) Rehearsal footage -- a large part of your fanbase consists of musicians who'd love to watch you jam on instruments for pointers or for sheer "how did he do that?" moments.

Or you could just keep letting your diehards languish with a website that offers little. If you don't step it up, your online name will (continue to) be mud -- especially this time, Skipper.

I think he's become a lot more cynical regarding the internet. The shortening of distance between Prince and his fans wrought by the internet has apparently not been so good for either... once just people who applauded at concerts & bought CDs, Prince fans emerged online some as his most vocal critics; once just an amazing artist on stage/tv/radio, Prince emerged online to some of his fans as a controlling bully willing to use the law to shuttem down.

It's been disillusioning on both sides, it seems. And the optimism has faded. Prince fans want back the mystery--we'd rather NOT know some things about P; and Prince wants back the devotion--he's apparently rather not hear what we have to say. At least not on his dime / site.
"That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

Now I agree that it's not exactly cutting edge, or living up to its potential but to say it is something that could have existed at the early life of the internet, is just not right.

It takes long enough to load on a 10MB connection, thinking about it on a 14.4K, or slower modem, is just not feasible. Not to mention the way it sucks the power from your computer, can you imagine it on an old pentium 1?

It is clearly an evolution of the interactive cd rom stuff though and we shouldn't really be surprised by it, the early NPGMC was along the same lines too.

That's the problem, a basic good web designer takes that into consideration, then and now.
There is nothing groundbreaking or dazzling about large graphics that take a long time download, or silly nerve racking interface that annoys the user on doing the simplest tasks. Not to mention its biggest downfall of not having basic content and functionality.

To hastily throw something like this together, and offer it for a premium of $77.00, knowingly says a lot, but not something we shouldn't come to expect from Prince.

just so that no one thinks its just about negativity for negativity's sake i do like Lotusflow3r quite a bit..

We've been putting out the ideas for over a decade. Prince's people are obviously reading these boards but they only care about the things they can hurt the community with or make money by. Prince needs to hire Me and Trina cuz you best to guarantee we'd whip that MF into line and give the people what they want! lol

Making money is so clearly not a motivation. If it was, then he'd be selling live recordings of each show, selling us vault songs, touring more, selling merchandise, selling DVD's, the list can go on and on.

Prince may be a lot of things, but he clearly and most definitely isn't, all about the $.

nothing'clear' about it IHO. Prince knows very well that his pension is his vault material. He's no.1 at the bank (so he says). That matters to him, a lot.

just coz he aint doing any of the things NOW that you mention is not proof positive that he doesn't care about the money.

Making money is so clearly not a motivation. If it was, then he'd be selling live recordings of each show, selling us vault songs, touring more, selling merchandise, selling DVD's, the list can go on and on.

Prince may be a lot of things, but he clearly and most definitely isn't, all about the $.

falloff falloff falloff falloff

$3,121 for table seats at the Rio in Vegas? Sure lol

Obviously there's examples of stupid prices, we see this recently with the Opus. But can you explain if he's all about money, why isn't he releasing live recordings and vault songs? Money is so clearly not the number one consideration. There are so many things that Prince could do to make money it's ridiculous.

But saying Prince isn't motivated by money is, IMHO, an absolute joke!
well, ok, so maybe he's motivated by money. I'm just saying it's not the main thing.

If his vault is his pension, he'd be as well to release stuff now and put the proceeds into a pension fund, earning him interest. The music is worthless just sat on a shelf. It would make much more sense to release it sooner if it's supposed to be a retirement fund.
