i think it's meant to be enjoyed as a kind of online art installation which features a retrospective of prince pics and videos, and it's not really meant to be a source for exclusive information or a tool for communication or discussion. Which, okay, might be really cool if you're a casual fan who hasn't seen or heard a lot of Prince stuff and is curious to dig a little deeper. But casual fans don't pay $77 to join an artist's official site. Diehard fans will pay $77, but diehard fans have already seen all the content posted to the site a kajillion times. What we're left with is a few pretty animations we can poke at with our cursors and that's about it. The album downloads were nice, but we can get those at Target for $12 now. Where's the incentive for casual fans OR diehard fans? Who is this site catering to? On the back of the CD's it mentions the site exists for exploration.Normally when you get a CD these days, and something like that is mentioned, usually it means you can explore more on the site...and usually by purchasing the CD that should unlock something. I am pretty sure that most casual fans went to the site and never figured how to unlock it and if they did gave the 77 dollar price tag a HELL NO. What I find funny is that supposedly the T-Shirt is an incentive to join early, but on the CD's it shows the shirt. IMO, the shirt should be given to all who join. Normally artists give you a little something beyond the website. Madonna's site you get a gift (mine was a T-shirt exclusive to the club in a cute lil tin). Pet Shop Boys' site gives you issues of Literally Magazine (Madonna also has a magazine you get) and I think a special Holiday Card. But still you get something beyond the site and ticket priveleges. So I wonder is the 77 for access to tickets? I mean if that's what it really is, tell us. It also seemed like the site was way more than it is in the reviews. Christian Zombie Vampires | |

Here's something to ponder...what if vault material started coming out through the site. Would you pay for stuff you already have? WHat if it was something like Big Tall Wall..peeps would be bitching that he's not giving us the goods. Or maybe he does and it's all things we've heard before...then there'd be bitching that he's not giving us boots we've not heard. You're right...some of that vault material needs to stay there. Since 2001, all Prince has ever tried to do is play the media game to get his music out there. I think he's been more focused on that than on the music. Music to and for the masses. As I stated before I doubt the site garnered anyone who is not hardcore becaus no one would be able to figure out how to unlock the site. Christian Zombie Vampires | |

even if the good stuff is worth more than $77 he could still charge per album which would make the $77 and being a member worth while to have the opportunity to have these albums. it did say the premium content is not free when signing up, i'd call rare stuff premium.

Nothing major, until the negative swell will grow to a point where more and more fans want a refund, so he'll throw a bone and everyone will shut up for while. Then, a few months later, the swell will grow again, so Prince will sneek out a bone in the form of a track that basically slags off his fans for wanting more. The fams will proclaim "he showed you all"! Then, a month before renewal, they give away a bit more away, and plenty false promise, to sucker you in to sign up again... Then repeat..... 
As a 25 year die hard, still loving the new albums, I'm still shocked that I bailed on joining this year, but I'm glad I did. Its far less stressful, and my album has Crimson and clover on it!  I love Prince too.  Christian Zombie Vampires | |

If my t-shirt dosnt come il be pissed lol! i didn't get any kind of anything informing me about any t-shirt. i know i'm supposed to get one, but i hope it doesn't come in babydoll XXS size or shaq attack XXXL, or else i'll have a very purple looking shamwow to cut up and wash our car with.
