Thanks for the heads up! DMSR seems a little flickery here but I'm sure they will sort it out, sound quality is awesome!!!

Cheers for the heads up. At first I was wall at the prospect of another April fools thread but it's genuine!

Videos now show a buffering message too.

I'm not so sure. Seen it all before...many, many times *yawn*

If his intention is to have some kind of 'online vault' then I'm all for it, but I think under the circumstances he should have started of with some 'rarer' gems. At least to back up all the 'exclusive content' claims they made and to help reassure fans who have stumped up the $77.

On the one hand, at least they are adding new stuff regularly...

On the other, so far it's not worth the money and I don't feel particularly 'exclusive'

Seriously, can we get something new? Good lawd! How about the seldom seen "I like it there" clip or the tens of thousands of live gigs he could throw up there. (sorry bad choice of words)

You had that DMSR video before? Honest question, I wasn't aware it was ciculating (and the Databank doesn't seem to have it listed either).

I'd like to see a bunch of new stuff too, but they're obviously going to draw it out over the course of the year. If they continue to update on a weekly basis, that's not so bad, is it?

Can't actually remember where I saw it now you mention it. It's been 'around' and just because it isn't on Databank, doesn't mean anything.

I agree with you about the regular updates. It is encouraging. I just would have liked to have seen a real 'WOW' factor addition at the start. Just to get us excited and feeling positive about the place for a change biggrin

Who knows, though, Maybe the little guy will make good on his promises for once.....

DMSR from Houston was shown as a video intro at a few 3121 Las Vegas shows, and one London show in August - the new version on LF is from Detroit and hasn't previously been seen.

Even just one show with the GREAT seats is worth the $77 fee. I sure hope P hits the road to Pimp these new CD's

Contrary to popular belief... every fan has not seen every video or boot leg thats out there. So to them... things like the 45 min Sacrifice of Victor or the Detroit DMSR performance are treats.( I know I had never seen the DMSR one). Plus over 20 min of Coachella video which had never been seen. So far there has been a mix of never before seen and rare vids as well as classic and 'pop' hits up. If he continues to put new stuff up every week I'm cool.

You do realize its been...ummm... one week. We have 51 more to go this year alone. what would be the point on giving everything all up front..? We got a yearly subscription... not a one day shop till you drop.

I'm sure there are a lot of fans around the globe who hasn't been able to see many of these videos on any regular basis and are thrilled to see them.

Also... as far as quality goes... the new vids are in .F4V format which is a HQ version of flash FLVs. Even if you do rip them... many players won't play them as is... you may need to install a compatible player. I'm kinda thrilled to get good quality versions of a lot of the older stuff 'minus' BET and MTV logos and such. But of course if the source wasn't that great of quality to begin with... then its a HQ version of a crappy quality vid.

shame its only 'streaming'....for the $$ to join I don't think we should be locked in to watch a stop-start stuttery pixelated mess like that....why the hell can't we just download it and watch it offline like 'normal people' - its not as though its a whole concert or anything....

I for one am not pleased....a lot of countries don't have ultra fast broadband and it takes me about 10 minutes just for the damn site to buffer in....let alone try and watch a streaming hi-res video clip....at least last week we could download it (albeit being forced to use other software cos there was no direct download) and watch it once it was finished downloading....that way it was enjoyable to watch...this is just a nightmare and I won't bother...

lets hope things improve a lot....cos so far its not worth the $...just another hassle I can do without....shame really, I was really looking forward to things this time round, even after the first few days of the site being overloaded....

I didn't realise F4V files were HQ. Does anyone know when you change the file extension from f4v to flv (I did this and they then play in a standard flv player) whether you automatically lose this HQ quality? confused

If you're seeing it pixelated on the site.. you mat need to DL the Adobe Flash Player plug-in.

Well... FLV...F4V... and a few others are only flash shells. FLV is a shell for AVI format (IIRC) and F4v is a flash shell for MP4. I'm pretty sure if you have the right codecs on your system it should play if you changed the extension. And still maintain quality.

NOTE
HQ as in great darned video... not HD as in high def

MP4 and likewise F4v are usually used to get great quality video and audio... but keep the file sizes respectful. But these files are still huge for flash... so I'm assuming great quality... and they look like it too.

According to the flash video specification, file extensions should be ignored by flash players, they look in the file itself to see what the format is. However, older versions of software might not have the necessary codec to play the high def files. It's odd that some players will play them if you change the extension but not if you don't.

Windows media player gives a warning and asks if you want to continue and then seems to play the files. All except for DMSR, which produces corrupted video, although the audio is intact.

As far as I know, there's no support for a f4v file to include low def as well, so if they play, then they're playing HD.

Applian flv player does not work very well with the offline DMSR file (you get the pixelated playback).
