Is it really that hard to understand? What about the tracks we paid for. Would u like it if HMV came and took back the cds you bought?? There is a middle ground here. The NPGMC was not closed down correctly. And even if you love P to bits, that is indisputable. Fingers got burnt, yet we are still going back for more. So back off on folks who still have the right to complain, surely the fact that many (inc me) have signed up again means we have given him another chance. But you know the saying, once bitten, twice shy. Lets hope he doesn't F*** this one up. He wont get another chance. "My God it's full of Stars"

I was on a mac at the time (as were many others, so we could not burn cds without a lot of hassle) We had them saved on the desktop obviously. But the licenses disappeared when the club shut down. So the files were unusable. ah well.. downloaded them from a boot since then, but its still wrong. In some inverted way Prince seems to promote boots and torrents.. "My God it's full of Stars"

Prince opened a site to sell his music and show video, sell tickets. He sold a lifetime membership. After a while he closed the site with no refound or explanation.
After some times, Prince opened a site to sell his music and show video, sell tickets. Another name. New price. Another fee to pay. Prince is a quite good producer of himself, a nice pop musician, but the way he handles the people that listen his music is bad.

Other considerations such as your expectations are irrelevant, you only exist to give him $$$. Probably some kind of battered wife syndrom for prince fans, you know you won't get your money's worth but you give it to him anyway

The last year of the club was FREE so y'all can stop with the lifetime membership bullshit.

I'm confused, Half the people on here keep going on about "lifetime memberships" the other half talk about paying per year and getting years free etc.
Which was it? | |

the next to the last year of the club, the price went to 25 dollars. Once it was time to renew, those that had paid their 25 bucks did not have to pay again and received a "lifetime membership".
Which was it? Seems like many people didn't appreciate that and seem to have selctive amnesia when it comes to Prince. He changes his mind like the wind and they get mad at him for it.

Sorry Vendetta that really does not make sense. prince brought the 25$ lifetime membership rule in to get more people to join, obviously he couldn't recharge existing members. So everyone including those who already signed up were promised "lifetime" memberships. It was that unfortunate promise, that people have the problem with, he did not deliver. And i'm no hater, I didn't really care much for the NPGMC anyway, but removing the DMR license for folk who had bought tracks was just wrong. We bought music, we own that copy. very bad practice for an artist trying to stop illegal downloads of his music. IMHO! "My God it's full of Stars"

i have yet to see a cd sale, t-shirt offer or a membership that price offered to be worth the money spent. npgmc was a joke and the new site will be also. how many of you paid for a lifetime membership for stuff you can easily get at probably no cost right now? how many of you paid extra money for crystal ball and are still waiting for crystal ball 2?
$77 for something that WILL be available elsewhere soon enough is a waste. prince can try to police the entire internet, but it's impossible when technology gets smarter. i still remember being happy as shit for paying $20 in the 80's to be in the New Breed fan club just because i got a poster, a card, a photo, a tour book and some pins in the mail! $77 these days gets you NOTHING! i don't know how many times you ppl have to be ripped before you see the pattern.

When you hear "lifetime membership" or "lifetime subscription" or "lifetime warranty" you don't think it's for the lifetime of the club, the magazine or the item under warranty. You wouldn't buy a toaster with a "lifetime warranty" and throw it out if it broke a week later, because that was the end of the toaster's life. No other performer charges fans $100 for a year. Then another $25 for a "lifetime" membership. Then asks them AGAIN, for another $77. This is ridiculous. Prince fans defending this practice must be extremely wealthy or extremely naive. Yeah...bad example. If you get a "lifetime warranty" on a product, it's for the lifetime of the product (usually a set length of time) - not your lifetime. Anyone who would expect a toaster to last the rest of their life is an idiot. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

As i've mentioned before, I have got it all again now anyway, but thru unofficial means. Not good policy is it to encourage fans to download/buy boots? Cause I will be damned if I have to buy the same material twice from Mr Nelson. "My God it's full of Stars"
