As I was watching some of the old Warner era videos (Little Red Corvette, Alphabet St., Diamonds and Pearls, I Wanna Be Your Lover, Controversy, Sign O The Times, The Sacrifice of Victor full-length film) posted on lotusflow3r.com, I just remembered that Prince had teased us with the notion that he was going 2 re-record and re-release all those Warner era albums so that he'd own them 100%. I find it interesting that he hasn't followed thru on this and that he has now uploaded the music videos that we were once led 2 believe were owned by his "slavemaster".

While I think the original versions of both the songs and videos are great and transport me back in time, I want 2 know if U think Prince will ever re-record his old trax or he's going 2 let that project rest. Or, does anyone know if he has announced officially that he has cancelled his plan?

Wasn't the Purple Medley cd full of pieces of that aborted re-recording project? Not sure, just wonderin'.

Say... that Sacrifice of Victor vid... is all the swearing still intact in the Sexy MF section? I'll be surprised and pleased (and more likely to become a member) if it is...

As 4 Prince having re-recorded his back-catalogue over the course of 2 years in the 90s and letting it sit in his vault... hmmm... it seems like a helluva lotta work 2 re-record that much material and now just let it collect dust. If he had really done this, surely he would've released a few of the new versions, other than just "1999", as freebies on npgmc.com. Perhaps if they indeed are sitting in the vault, he'll sell them as downloads on lotusflow3r.com. Fingers crossed.

the video i bought has a different beginning than the one on lotus

I'm sure WB don't have a problem with this. It only generates more interest in the WB albunms = more sales.

I'm guessing that the lotusflow3r.com version is a rip from the Japanese Laserdisc version (cos of the subtitles)?

I think we saw the product of these new recordings with Pop Life and Starfish and Coffee and more notably 1999 the new master. I really think that was what that was about. I think most thought of these as remixes and not entirely new versions.

yup, it is 35 years, so starting 2013 Prince gets one album of masters per year starting with For You and on and on. At that point, either he will re-release them (hopefully remastered) and get a bigger profit of sales, or destroy them one by one as they contain profanity and blasphemy. Especially Dirty Mind and on.
