MPL Sound Internet Explorer work around

So, I just tried to download the MPL Sound Album using the newest Firefox, I kept receiving the error "Invalid Origin" and yet, it downloads fine with Internet Explorer 7. I found, when using Internet Explorer it downloaded as mplsound_mplsound.zip but upon trying to extract it, it gives an error saying that the file is damaged/corrupt. To fix this I performed the following but you do have to have an application capable of extracting .rar files...I suggest using 7-Zip (completely free at 7-zip.org) or Winrar (is not free and is only really useful if you are compressing).

1.) First, you have to disable the hidden extension feature in Windows or else, adding/changing or even viewing extensions, is not possible. I'm using Windows XP at the moment and I do not recall if you have to do this in Vista but You can follow along anyway. Go to your start menu and select "run" (vista users, should be able to just type this in the "search" box) and type "explorer" and hit enter. Note: if you are on Vista and this did not open Windows explorer, type "CMD" in that very same search box and hit enter and then, type "explorer" in that and hit enter.

2.) In the top menu click on "Tools" and select "Folder Options" (Vista users, you may have to hit "alt-f" to review this hidden menu. Now, click on the "view" tab within the folder options interface and scroll down to where it says "hide extensions to known file types" and make sure this is unchecked. Apply your changes and exit.

3.) Go to your newly downloaded file and change the .zip to .rar and extract the file. You will find, that it extracts into another generic file called mplsound_mplsound. Add the .zip extension to the end of that file and extract it yet again...Voila! and there is your music!

This was the only way I could get it to work on my computer. As stated before, Mozilla wouldn't even allow me to download it.

Prince is crappy. You should just be able to unzip the folder and get your music, but nooo it has to be so difficult and you have to be a technician to understand it confused

Another good .rar extractor: http://www.zipeg.com/home.html

Are the files undamaged after this workaround? No gaps or incomplete/corrupt songs?

Now I can finally listen to mplsound. biggrin

Thanks! All I had to do was d/l IE7 and I got the album ZIP file instead of that pesky "download_gp.php" file I kept getting last night. rolleyes

Then I did the double rar rename/extract you explained and it WORKED! woot! I tried the same for Lotusflow3r, but no luck on that one. sad Anyone figured out a work around for that file yet?

I'm surprised by all the issues people have been having download wise - I used a newly downloaded version of Firefox and got all 3 on MP3 with no problems whatsoever.

And trust me when I say, my PC is ready for the graveyard in terms of performance and errors.
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

So what is the file size of the correct wav download for MPLSOUND? Is it around 190 MB cos that's the size file I am getting. That's half the size of the other 2 album wav download files.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.
