I took the designer's advice and watched the videos with the website itself in full-screen mode and there was no choppiness.

alternatively...rightclick; select 'quality'; select 'low' or 'medium'. That sorts out the choppiness too.

I'll have to try that. It was really bad for me last night. My laptop is not bad as far as specs (2 GB RAM, dual core processor, etc.)but still extremely choppy. I looked at task manager and as soon as I bring up the Lotus website, my cpu utilization jumps up to 70% When I try to play a video, it's like 90%. When I close the website, it goes back down to 20-30%. It must be the Flash.

The choppiness has very little to do with bandwidth. If I play a downloaded file in a media player with the Lotus website running, the video is still choppy in the media player.

Basically, the website is hogging every available resource on the computer and slowing everything the hell down. Even right clicking and changing the flash settings to low quality does nothing to help.

I know my PC isn't completely up to date but with a 3Ghz processor and 2GB of memory, it should be able to handle a web site!
RIP sad

tried Safari in full screen mode and Guitar plays well but then Turn Me Loose seems like the dubbing is off with the vocals

Thanks for all the info on this issue.

I've been frustrated as hell about _it_ myself, but knew that the kinks would be discussed and solutions passed along.

I've not been able to enjoy the site, but some of that's just how things are for me...it's a busy week. lol

Thanks again ya'll!

lol Just clarifying a missed word edit.

It also helps to connect your computer to a nuclear reactor and about twenty hamster wheels.

FunkmasterF

After umpteen attempts at getting a reminder of my password (I tried all my usual ones) over the last few days, I gave up when they didn't bother mailing me and registered again, which finally worked...and then everything ground to a halt

Videos are hopeless, if I close the video window I get Ok audio, but that's kinda defeating the purpose.

I have a 1yr old laptop with a T7300 2ghz Core2 Duo Processor, 2Gb RAM, and a 10Mb DSL connection, running Vista Home Premium with IE. My CPU utilisation jumps to 65%-70% when I log in and then 80%-90% when I try to run a video. I tried downloading an album a few minutes ago...it just hung my system for a few minutes then I gave up.

The specification requriements say 1Ghz 32-bit or 64-bit processor and 1Gb RAM. I'm well above that and it is completely unusable. If I had the same user experience on a shopping site before ordering, I wouldn't have gotten as far as buying anything and went elsewhere...now that I've paid for it, do I feel ripped off? Oh yes...

I gave up using IE on that site. It's just waaaay tooo slooooow for the video section. talk about delayed reaction. Firefox is the way forward.

anyway. No choppiness today at all!!!! small screen, large screen, low quality, high quality.

They fixed it, I guess! Yay!

Yeah, just tried it today and they've changed to whole 'media orb' thingy. It just pops up now and runs very smoothly. All the videos stream properly, at least in full screen.

I guess at least they are making the improvements and trying to get it working for everyone.

Can't say to fairer than that even if you could argue this should have been like this from the start wink

I've noticed when it is in the "small" format it's all choppy, but if I open the screen up wide it plays well all the way through - hopefully this will work for you too.

I'm still not able to download these albums however ... mad

The problem seems to be totally alleviated for now anyway. Just went to the site and the videos and the video selector thing were all running really smoothly.
