Nobody is mentioning what is on the site, you are all complaining..lol There is another thread for that. This is to tell us what the site looks like. I will not pay for it, so I need some info..lol

Why are you guys whining anyway, you knew the site would be wack. Prince is a millionaire, to him 77 dollars is a small bit.

I am also not surprised that he will charge for 'premium' material, which must mean the vault stuff. 77 dollars and you all still have to pay extra for the vault..lol

well it doesn't say that anywhere on the site or the conditions/rules.

we're just assuming that prince will be a stingy bastard with his vault
material and make us pay through the nose.

however, there is still a lot of room within the next 364 days for him
to surprise us and make people like me, who have already bitched and
moaned since this morning, take back their words.

The videos are the purple windows that you have to click on on the globe where the images of Prince and other band members are. I didn't know those were vids either until I mistakenly clicked on it.

Maybe not! I was half-expecting him to make me eat my words last night and have the site chocked full of so many goodies and on a server that could handle the traffic, like the NCAA Tournament's website and all the TRU fans would have been gushing so much that I'd have not been able to resist whipping out my credit card and giving in, once more to the purple madness. But alas...that didn't happen. whew

Ok much better today.

My review of the site:

Content - All three albums stream and you can download tham either in Mp3 (320 kps) or wav. I suggest Mp3 as the wav file is a little tricky for some and 320 kps is a great bit rate.

You also get a T-Shirt. Access to tix through your account(there were some last night for 77 each...I did not buy)

There is also a place where you can get to video content and pictures. Apparently there is some rare footage. They all stream and you can't down load them. I was unable to watch due to the choppyness, that I am attributing to the high traffic last night. They are all arranged in an orb like structure that's hard to navigate.

Hard to navigate. I think it sums up the site pretty well. I had feared he might do this and not make it straight forward ala the Myst type of things I was hearing about the site. I can imagine that the only ones who will endure this is the Fans. Casual fans will be very very confused. For 77 bucks some things should be straightforward like... Where to download the albums and where to sign up or tix. Other issues..

First off having the site unlock with clues? This will turn away any casual fan as they won't know how to unlock the site.

Second, the browser issue! Seems like you need to use certain type of browser to get it to work and you got to clear out that cache to sign up. I have noticed that if I exit my browser, I am unable to get back in...or it very hard to do so, like it still thinks you are in there.

Third, It's difficult to find the albums if you don't know what you are looking for. FOr 77 bucks, I want to get my $$$ worth right away and was freaking out because the site was all glitchy.

My verdict....wait til the site gets more stable. You're not missing out on any extra content because it's not working proper. Get the disks at target if you need the music. Sorry, until there is a tour announced, I can't recommend spending 77 on what's there now. Unlike the others, I think we will get more content for free. 77 is pretty steep for 3 CD's and access to tix you gotta buy anyway. It may be streaming, but I think some audio nuggets will turn up for download.

no, no. 77$ multiplied by 50 thousand + is quite considerable.
there really is nothing on the site that most folk want. The albums. And several videos. SHOE, Sign, Undertaker, Leno etc Not that many though. And their quality is shit. 1990 style. Thats it, a few unbelievably tacky photoshop images. I mean first year college stuff. Utter crap. And the site is NOT 3d. A couple of moving bad 2D plane elements and a tiny bit of flash. The only slightly modern element is the video section, which is laid out like a ball. This has been done on loads of sites before, and in a better fashion. The 3 'worlds' are photoshop montages with a few clickable bits thrown in. The Bria one has to be seen to be believed, graphically it's the cheapest, nastiest bit of design I've sen for quite a while. And I don't mind the covers!

Utter utter rubbish.

expensive rubbish.

I posted earlier -

mp3 format albums are at 320 kbps. Each album is about 100 mb total in mp3 format. wma files are also available, but I didn't download those.

There are additional images shown for each album (5-6 for each). There are also lyrics on the site for all three albums. There's a paragraph of credits for each album as well.

There are probably about 25-30 videos on the site (they're playing pretty choppy right now so I haven't studied them much, but there's the Creep performance, "Guitar" which never aired on Leno, "1999" which never aired on Leno, "7/Come Together" to name a few. They stream - not available for download.

Thank you smile

Yes. Thanks. I think I'll pass on signing up because most of the stuff that's being offered I don't really care that much about videos/pics. I'll purchase the album set at Target and be happy with that.

I just don't feel like trying to figure out how to navigate an entertainment website.

All this having to search, download, unzip, rename, close, re-open, use the secrect password, circle the purple pyramid backward three times on your knees mess would give me a headache right through here. lol

Agree whole heartedly. For $77, I really expected, well, more. It's visually mostly unappealing and difficult to navigate and nothing freaking works right. I didn't even bother to try downloading the albums last night after reading all of the reports and the problems I had just trying to register.

Here's hoping the kinks will be worked out (fast!!) and there will be a show in Mpls this year to make it worth it.

Just had a look at the site proper and it has very little to offer, most of the videos have been released before, Scarfice of Victor even has subtitles.

The pictures are all from the recent book.

Prince knows how to make us pay again and again and again.

Hopefully it will be updated weekly with some proper unseen vault material, so far the only interesting stuff is the recent live stuff and the few Leno clips.

Out of 100 I would give it for value for money a 40.

I wasn't expecting that much but this little is indefensible.

Thank you! This is exactly the information i wanted. I will definately be signing up, but might just wait a while until any glitches are resolved.

I love Prince. I have since I was 10 years old. I have been a faithful follower, dedicated fan, and defended our purple prince no matter what the issue.. I have invested hard earned dollars, just like the rest of you here, on tapes, cd's, movies, tickets- even a strategically placed tattoo.... Over the years that has added up to a whole lotta monies, let me tell you. And after all of that, and joining his other site that shut down on us- now the new site cost $77???
I love you Prince. I always have. Always will. But I am scorned.
Too much going on right now for this luxery. I realize I will never be one of those people in the front row of a Prince concert, I will never have that kind of money or luck. But I truly enjoy being a part of everything purple.
I hope those of you who joined enjoy it tremendously, but those of us who aren't buying into it, remember- we are just as dedicated! fro
