Would some of u members be satisfied if all u got was ONA and ONA Live!

Are some of u expecting Xenphobia or something like a DVD. Or perhaps ALL of the discussed cd's in the tour book?

All I know last year we got a lot more music. I filled 11 CDs with the Audio Shows and the (unofficial) High tracks CD, Rainbow children, videos (which I burned to DVD)... Yeah all downloads, but at least the music was there. Having a fast connection helps my comments but it's all about the music for me:) I love we got this year (live jams are always good) I just wish there was more, maybe a completely new CD.
All depends on your experience this year. Have said before the guy who actually sang with Prince at one of the rehersals will have a different opinion of this year so...
Not sure on year 3, if it even happens. I doubt we will get anything more this year, but maybe Satan Claws will be good to us:)

NO - I am still waiting 4 ONA Live...and I feel sorry 4 those who haven't even got ONA yet!

NO - a promise is a man's word...and bond! Maybe P doesn't like 2 b bound - well...he shouldn't make promises...I remember when we had a 'chat' early on into the club and 'P' or a 'represenative of NPGMC' told us about xenophobia - well y tell us about something that wasn't gonna b released - but maybe it isn't all P's fault...maybe there were contractual obligations...with other artists -Candy or Vanessa Mae? or with a distributer -of the live album? would have been nice 2 b informed at some stage thruout the year though ... information should have been key 2 this year success..

NO - not without knowing what promises he is going 2 maybe someday break

Yes I'm happy with the club, even if we don't get any other cd's this year. I still haven't got my ONAL, but I look very much forward to it.

The coolest live-set from the coolest live-tour by the coolest live-act. All packed in a nice box with pictures and other stuff. We could have gotten another album, but then maybe ONAL would have been send like Crystal Ball (wasn't that the worst cd-cover ever???)

I'm sure that in time we will get the xenophobia album, I don't care if it will be in 2003. As long as we get the amount of cd's (read: new material like ONA+ONAL, not cd-singles) as he promised, I would be happy to support Prince and his music club.

I think Prince planned the Voice and DEMO One Nite Alone Cd and the LIVE Box set for year Two quite early. Hence the three eggs in the nest on the Voice and DEMO One Nite Alone Cd.


I'm yet to get the Box Set but overall have re-evaluated and am satisfied.

The problem I believe was caused by the flippiant Marketing of Year 2 by saying that we'd get so and so albumns when its possible he knew we wouldn't!

I'll be joining for year 3.

Sometimes we do expect too much but also you shouldn't promise too much!

I'm pretty satisfied. I got a new CD, I was able to great tickets for 2 shows and I got an aftershow gig for free !! And, hopefully, I'll get a 3CD live set soon. Not bad for £70 !!

I think I'll wait and see for year 3. I'll wait untill we get firm confirmation of the first release or a tour before I join.

I will be a little disapointed if we don't get Xenaphobia this year. It's obviously ready, so if he keeps it back as the first release for next year, he is clearly taking the piss !!

Ummm, well I think some of us are being affected by cognitive dissonance... that's when you find yourself in a situation that is at odds with what you believe (i.e. Prince wouldn't rip us off, we are only getting the live set for $75). Your brain doesn't want to accept that your beliefs are wrong, so you start convincing yourself that exceptional circumstances are the norm. That way your sense of what is right doesn't get screwed up.


I remember way back when people were speculating (AS A JOKE) that ONA Live would be it for the year. Everybody was laughing it off, saying "That'll be the day!" and so on.

But look, that's exactly what's happened. So now people are looking at the promises made by the club, listening to the music they DO have and saying "well this isn't so bad, Prince did come through for us after all, stop moaning".

The truth is we were all disappointed. The people who are sticking up for the club now are the same people who claimed it was ridiculous to suggest Prince would only give us ONA Live to complete the year. It's just they're trying hardest to ignore their disappointment (and by trying to convince others the club was satisfactory, they are actually convincing themselves - in my opinion).

You have now got me thinking SaxJedi. I am currently experiencing dissonance with my cognitive dissonance? I am in conflict with what I refuse to believe about that which I recall.

I joined the club when I heard about the concerts (more correctly, the rumours about the concerts). I did not join immediately after ONA was released. Therefore, one CD was insufficient to make me join. But, a CD and the possibility of priority seating was enough – and thoroughly justified while I sat watching Prince in a fisherman’s “jumper” comment at my fiancé telling him that he was beautiful in Italian – I was content and my expectations fulfilled (as long as my ONA Piano Album showed up soon).

The problem is my expectations changed; they are not the same as they were when I first joined (maybe the org is to blame for gossip mongering). But 4 CD titles listed in a photograph, talk of ‘Xenophobia’ on a PROMOTIONAL MP3, now cryptic messages of DVDs. The reason I joined is not the reason I will use to rejoin, or in hindsight not the reason I NOW justify joining this year.

I am in turmoil. I hate the club, but I love the club. I am dissatisfied but I will join again next year. I am insatiable!

What are you whining about?? ONA live is DA BOMB!! When ONA arrived many people said that "ohh no he just give us a stupid piano album, when radiostations get a promo with live tracks from this wonderfull tour..." Now he releases the greatest live-pack with great artwork ect. (instead of Crystal Ball's grat artwork...) AND YOU GET A FREE COPY OF ONA or Rave In2 or something else.

I just mean, If you wanna support Prince & his club, DO IT, if you want to support Sting, David Bowie or another great artist DO IT, Prince is doing it his way`, and you know that, so it is up to you.

Admit it, no matter what Prince does some people will not be satisfied.

Personally, yes I think that it is sad that MAYBE ONAL hits retail before I get my copy, but that is just because I can't wait to get my copy, not because: "Ohh I'm a member, I want it all and I want it now"

Who cares when Xenophobia is out??? It will come, trust me. I'm in for the ride and I will definately be a member in 2003.

However, he promised more, he hinted at much more, and next year no tour (reasonable guess). Bsides, one has quicker and cheaper access 2 all the music than members do, so y bother? If they would stick 2 the deal, communicate more clearly (or ship another cd b4 the end of this membership), i might reconsider, but none of that is going 2 happen, so...

Myself, I feel that we got what we was promised (4 cds). It never said that we would get the 4 cds listed in the tour book, but that u would have access 2 them. They never said when. Come on people, this is Prince. Never assume anything with this guy. U never know what is going 2 decide 2 do musically. It's been this way every since 1978 and it will continue 2 be like that from now on.

I could buy the same damn set at the store for 50 bucks instead of the hundred i spent on the club, and theres even reviews of the set which suggest it may include ONA studio.

Which leaves the other 50 bucks for the rehersal pass. I can get into a whole damn concert for less than 50 bucks. So total I paid $300 to see Prince in concert and the Rehersal. What a bargain! I didn't even get the primo seating I was promised.

I don't like their attitude. I don't feel complelled to be tolerant, polite, or forgiving with this company anymore. And I'm not doing anymore business with them.

It's sad and may sound mean, but I'm just gonna save my cash and get the stuff off P2P.

My assumption just before Year 2 started (Yep, I was stupid to assume that Prince wouldn't possibly con us, but I was wrong) was that the 4 CDs would be seperate projects and the first one would be sent just after you joined the club. Then, at pretty much regular intervals throughout the year, it would be joined by three more offerings. As it turned out, we had to wait three months before the first CD arrived - a half hour collection of songs that Year 1 members already owned half of. But the three eggs on the cover, still in the nest, along with the newly hatched egg (ONA) suggested that there were still three more projects ready to begin hatching before the year end.
And then six months of nothing...

I won't bother mentioning not being able to get a ticket for the concerts due to the website fucking up. Oops, I just did.

I'm still awaiting ONA Live and it'll probably be superb! But no matter how much I enjoy it, there's no way that I'm going to let it blind me into thinking that I've got a good deal through the NPGMCrap. I haven't. If it's right that the ONA piano EP is thrown into the retail version as well, then it means that I've paid £75 (equiv $100) for a package that non-members will be able to get for £50 or less.

A point about the titles mentioned in the tourbook. That was an advert for the NPGMC and therefore it is now officially false advertising. Who knows how many members joined because of that advert? I'm sure that there's some legal action going to happen there.

So, will I be joining next year?

Middle of May - Receive first CD, half of which already owned.
Middle of December (hopefully) - Receive ONA Live which can be bought in a few days, anyway.

Wow! I feel so privileged to be part of the club, membership really DOES have it's privileges - but, unfortunately the club has no morals, no sense of exclusivity and no respect for the very people who keep it going. The only Prince community that I feel a part of is completely free and called Prince.org.

No, I definitely won't be joining the NPGMCrap next year no matter what they're offering - because inevitably, the reality of what the fans ultimately get will be far removed from what was suggested at the beginning.
