UK ONA arrivals II - Are NPGMC just stupid?

STILL NO CD’s

This is really annoying, I would like to express real anger but can't because it is just really annoying. I am no business man but how difficult can it be to phone Mr fed-X (sometime in November) say we have a large worldwide shipment of X,000 CD's. We would like them to go to these (list) addresses, using your three day, (5 day or even 7 day) service. Fed-X being a professional company would say sure we will sort it. I use Fed-X infrequently for one off transatlantic shipments with no problems whatsoever. Next day delivery, they arrive next day. 3 day service, no surprise that day 3 the package arrives.

If we haven't received then I simply think they haven't been sent.

HOW FUCKING DIFFICULT CAN IT BE!!

I am not complaining about the club (or am I?) but this is incomprehensible. It must be intentional to be so stupid and disorganised.

Press the fucking CD, package it, and post it to the members. Then promote the new CD and sell it to the public.

Yeah, from what I remember Soapstone is a reasonable guy, not a regular 'whinger'. Being part of this club is a total guessing game. We can't even be confident we will get the CDs because of reported problems in the past.

It's not winging, it's venting. I am just a bit upset, frustrated, dissatisfied, call it what you will. I just felt like expressing myself.

If you go to Ikea and buy a sofa they say "That will be with you tomorrow sir, here is your receipt and tracking information". Not “High, you will get it before the end of the year which could be February or maybe December, we have no further information at this time”. I know this is not a sofa we are talking about but it is still a product that we have paid for.

I just want to listen to the new CDs and be happy.

Every morning I expect to find the box-set waiting for me... but no such luck so far. I know it will turn up eventually, but it will be really annoying if I see it in the shops before I get it.

I reckon it was probably very hard to get a record company or whoever he's using to sell this to the public to agree to releasing thousands of copies early to his fan club. I expect a record sells most in its first few weeks, after that tracks start appearing on the internet, so you don't want to hurt that by having copies out there weeks earlier than the public release date.

Maybe they're only pressing a couple at a time so they don't end up with a warehouse full of unsold copies, and that's the delay.

It seems clear to me that a lot of fans are gonna get their copies later than the 'general public'.

Agree with you 100% Soapstone. The organising at NPGMC is as shambolic as ever.

I was told mine was shipped on 22nd November, when I initially enquired.
My follow up was 'by what delivery method', ie. 3 day, 7day etc, the response I got back was "it will be with you shortly". Usual cryptic crap of a reply.

I have to agree with Soapstone on the shipping issue. It has been totally bungled.

It's especially frustrating when I get calls from friends who live nearby who say "Did you get it?!?" And I say, "NO, you bastard! You got it two days ago???"

People who got theirs also got an e-mail from NPGMC saying that the CD's are being shipped. I didn't get that e-mail, so I'm not expecting to get my package until after I get that e-mail.

So, it looks like mine hasn't been shipped/packaged/manufactured yet, and it's Dec. 6. So, with a release date of Dec. 10, I won't be getting mine until the week of the 15th, I'm guessing.

So, not only will my friends be teasing me that they got theirs, but when we're in the wrecka stow they'll point at it on the shelf and laugh at me!

Maybe I'll just buy a copy in the stores and sell my NPGMC copy on e-bay, sealed with the ONA studio CD inside, and set a reserve price of whatever I paid for in retail.

Dunno...

2003 NPGMC is looking less attractive every day... And I used to be an anti-whiner, pro-NPGMC person...

I reserve the right to change my mind at any time, and do so often!

Nope, It often happens at stores that they say: Oh yes you can pay me now, and I will send you the sofa when it arrives here at the shop tomorrow, and you will have it in two days. And what happens??? Oh I'm sorry, the sofa wasn't here, so I will send it as soon as possible. Two months later the sofa arrives, and it is a different colour than the one you ordered, or something is missing. "Sure we will send you the rest, we just need to order it from the manufacter" and three months later you get the stuff.

This is no bullsh.. it happens all the time!! NPGMC is not the only one.

I'm with soapstone, how difficult can it be to make sure everybody gets the CDs within a couple of days of one another. They seem to be letting them out in dribs and drabs!!! In fact, i'm almost certain they have only been shipping a couple of CDs a day since the 22nd November smile. Oh well, the NPGMC could test the patients of a Saint.

Record company? Oh gosh!
I thought we were done with that.
Just press them CD's and distribute them any way you see fit. Just a distribution deal is enough.
If Ani can do it...
