the membership fee for npgmc....??? ....wasn't that fee a lifetime membership fee. If so, shouldn't it be transferable to his other or new sites. Otherwise, it will last FAR short of my lifetime at the very least.
I guess i need to research that info tho, but as far as i can remember, it was a lifetime mebership fee.

it was a lifetime membership fee for NPGMC.
there's no NPGMC anymore. so the lifetime is over. i'd be surprised if the new site carries over the NPGMC memberships, but stranger things have happened.

I'm sorry but, if you paid for it, you're a member for life
There's no way out | |

There's no way out we're talking about a web site here, not herpes. ok, wrong analogy

I'm not upset about paying a fee.. but I'm willing to bet anything you can "do" in the site, you can't actually keep. Or he'll put some expired thing on it.

I honestly think it's a no-win situation. I paid for the lifetime membership too. Yet, as many others have stated, I don't believe it was for my lifetime.. simply the lifetime of the club itself.
Either way, a subscription or not, there would be a reason for people in general complain. The best part of it all is that nobody is forcing you to sign up. And if paying for access to NPGMC left you bitter or turned off- consider it a lesson learned and move on. Hate Prince, hate the internet, hate credit cards, hate cute little puppies, it's not going to change the fact that the money is long gone and no one here has enough to take on Prince's legal team to get it back. Call it a mistake and get on with your life. I'll be paying again... only because I know I'd probably end up wasting that same amount of money on other crap, so why not? I don't see my hockey team making the playoffs, so bring on the silly fees! "Down by the riverbank in the old bayou.. I'm digging a grave into mud just for you."

Ticketmaster fees are sometimes as much as a ticket to events around here, so I agree completely. I wanted to say that I got my money's worth out of the old site on tickets alone. I understand others may not have had the same experience. (Reminds me of the whole Crystal Ball pre-order disaster.) It's slightly similar to paying for a ticket to the movies. You don't know for sure what you're going to get, but you have to pay to get in regardless. Not many people, unless they're ticky tacky, get their money back if they hated the movie they saw. I get that it's not that easy, but at the heart of it all- it's the same concept. "Down by the riverbank in the old bayou.. I'm digging a grave into mud just for you."

That's not the case with many others. Not me fortunately. I stopped falling for his cheap sales tricks years ago, but I know many thousands fell for it again. I would agree that it's kinda stupid to really expect to be a life time member. The issue I have however is with the way it is advertised. Just like they expected, many thousands fell for it, actually expecting to be a member for at least a couple of years, but they only ended up with DRM laden, self destructing music files. Not everybody had the pleasure to see him in concert and avoid ticket master fees you know. So I am saying, that for those who expected more out of it than just that, this "77$" (How blasphemic is it actually too price your products in Biblical numbers?) just to be a member ("for life" again?) and get a T - shirt (who the hell wants a T - shirt these days?) is not exactly a bargain. Al contrario. -- [Edited 2/5/09 14:37pm]

It's just that every time U turn around, Prince has some other scheme he's starting, that's in contradiction with his prior scheme. I know people change their minds and shit, but at the end of the day, it seems all Prince stands for is money. I understand everybody gotta make a dollar. He need to make his love of the dollar public instead if using this "art first" guise to do it.

I think for his type of business he has substantial expenses and he has to find different sources of income. I don't think he is being greedy at all.

That was not what was advertised. i don't remember it advertised as a lifetime membership for any official prince site that might happen from now through the end of time. i assumed it was for THAT specific site. i had no inkling of a hint to believe otherwise. what made you think differently?

I remember it was simply advertised as "a lifetime memebership for 25$". So that could be interpreted it different ways. Like I said, I did not fall for that, but many thousands others did. I remember discussions in here about what to "xpect" from that offer and there were many fans who really genuinly believed that it would give them acces for at least several years, actually expecting the npgmc to last that long, or that Prince would otherwise extend their memberships to any new site. Reasonably speaking in their mind.
